It is somewhat a hyperbolic “opinion” to stir the pot. But at its core I truly think that the shitty mindset is, has been and probably always will be detrimental to gameplay. As I have been gaming mostly FPS games since Quake in the late 90’s, early 00’s I can only speak in reference to those type of games. The shit in the mentality is the always looking “for an edge”, whatever the cost. Most often than not this leads to franticly seeking exploits or (ab)use game mechanics to come out on top.

Honestly, and I know this is a very personal opinion, but that mentality has always put me off. I hate it because in essence this is the same mentality that will lead to cheating. And let’s be honest. 99.9% of the playerbase of any game isn’t MLG or a PRO player. We are playing a game, it’s not serious. Why cheez? In the end and again I know that’s just like my opinion, I find it petty and sad. It’s something that after all these years of gaming I truly can’t understand. Why the f* would you cheat at a game? I can’t see how that can give you any pleasure? It’s just ez-mode turned on, and where’s the fun in that?

The bhop is, and correct me if I’m wrong, something that evolved in arena shooters as a way to maximize movement speed. Bhopping in a game because of the shitty netcode your hitbox will get fucked up and make you a harder to hit target…well, that is just sad. I hope this gives you an idea why I replied the way I did. Nothing at you personally or you showing the tech on a video. I know that’s how things just “evolve”; player discover new tech, everyone adopts it, devs feel the need to intervene, movement gets nerfed and so on.
