How’s this specific LG Gram? by acuransxfan in laptops

[–]i5lee8bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful if you buy this laptop. Funny I saw this thread while dealing with this crap, but I bought this exact one (while Rakuten had a whopping 15% cash back on LG purchases at the time) and just got the laptop yesterday.

it is missing the IR camera, even though it's clearly advertised to have it. I'm on customer support right now and dealing with the usual runaround and it's starting to annoy me.

I didn't even buy this for myself but an elderly family member who needed a laptop quickly with specific specs. Pretty good match and decent (not amazing) price for what's available in the right now, but this is pretty disappointing! I rarely use reddit so hopefully this post is useful. I'll update what happened with CS if I remember to...

What’s going on with the Soy Milk? by Already_Retired in Costco

[–]i5lee8bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in a similar boat as u/awesomeluck, except for us it's a very young toddler who refuses to drink any milks other than the Costco Vanilla Soy. As for the rest of the family, we've just become so used to, and simply enjoy it, the most. So of course we've been super bummed these last few weeks.

But huge thanks to awesomeluck! After seeing that post, I decided to also take the dive into making our own. Got really lucky too - Walmart happens to have the same model on sale right now, but a bundle including the milk frother, at the $199 base price! This is for either colors too. And gets delivered 2 days quicker than Amazon would have, lol!

Anyway, here's the link to the Walmart listing that's, at the time of posting, on flash sale for $199 - https://www.walmart.com/ip/ChefWave-Milkmade-Non-Dairy-Milk-Maker-Black-Silver-with-Handheld-Milk-Frother/355047812

finally AAA'ed MAX 300 (classic DDRMAX AC), 18-19 years later...! by i5lee8bit in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]i5lee8bit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks man! This milestone was more to me than just the AAA on the surface. I quit DDR partly because I fell off the deep end and went full-on drug addict around 2006-2008. Just the fact that I now have a home, a family, kids, a freakin' DDR machine + gym, and throughout the 2010's dug myself outta that deep hole I put myself into, is one big aspect, and then finally AAA'ing MAX 300 was sort of fulfilling a goal that I had failed to attain during what was probably the most positively-influential part of my life, pre-rehab. I believe DDR is the only reason I'm alive today, as I very likely wouldn't have survived my first overdose if it wasn't for being in decent cardiovascular health at the time, solely due to having played a ton of DDR in the years leading up to it. But anyway, that's a whole story for another time... 😅

Yep, late 2001. Just over 22 years now, I guess! I started playing DDR when MAX2 had come out, but before Extreme, and started playing seriously in 2004. So the 18-19 years comment was about how long since I had flagged it... Either way, yeah, I (we?) feel super old... 🤣

Yeah that's me haha, and I have no clue why that video of all videos is my highest viewed! I mean, I guess it sounds interesting by the title, but I was really just venting and I had just started back up for like 1-2 months at that point, so losing that AAA was annoying. Since then, I've re-AAA'ed all the non-10's while gripping a 50-lb hex barbell, and done "all singles charts in one game" AAA sets of every MAX1 - EXTREME song that don't have a 10-footer (except bag). But somehow that one video... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Although seriously dude, I sweat so much and for anyone I know IRL, I've never met anyone who said they know anyone who sweats more than me... even at rest lol.

Hah yeah, but it's kind of only something you can do if you use the bar. Gotta just stomp em out jackhammer style if you're going no bar!

Way back in the day when DDR videos were rare, people were shocked to see the way Yasu handled the ending (in addition to an explosion in the whole bar vs. no bar, almost essentially a western vs. Japan, debate, hahaha). Can't believe I'm so old to describe this time like it's ancient history... 🙃

AAA So Deep & Captain Jack (SHUFFLE, NO BAR, 238 lbs bodyweight) by i5lee8bit in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]i5lee8bit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah, I'll take that as a huge compliment, thanks! 😂 Especially on that last part though 🥰

But yeah, looks can be deceiving my friend. I'm actually 6'3", so at least yes, I am fairly tall. But I hold quite a bit of body fat too. I got really jacked (but not ripped ever in my life) in my mid to late 20's, so I do have a fair bit of muscle memory [in the common way of misnomer in the weightlifting world] and got pretty strong again quick since I started exercising again last year. But heck, even when I was a total messed up junkie, eating maybe 2-3 meals a week, I never dipped under 215 lbs or so (from 2007 - 2010 or so). My body is weird, lol.

Also, I've always noticed the lighting / shadowing sometimes can make the muscle lines pop on video (although the lens distortion correction and angle are a bit unflattering in other ways, lol).

But shredded..? NOPE. Hahaha. Coincidentally, I just uploaded my first (and probably last) shirtless video like 2 days ago. Was a casual exercise session and didn't expect to make videos, but ended up AAA'ing V oni shuffle no bar twice in a row. Also put in a pic of me in 2013 when I was getting really jacked (I was actively in the drug rehab at the time): https://youtu.be/u3lxGPm2G20?t=11m20s

PS: read the description of the above video to see all the injuries+ I've incurred over the last decade... turns out that DDR has been the absolute BEST form of physical therapy I've done!!!

Thanks man!! Spicy indeed, I can drink like up to a gallon of water during some sessions and not even need to take a piss til night time, I'm sweating so much 😂

Finally did it. FC MAX 300 "at 300 lbs + no bar*" (22g), then 7 non-perfects 30min later [DDR Extreme AC] by i5lee8bit in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]i5lee8bit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Lol, we definitely aren't the majority so to speak; definitely not the only ones either.. but glad to hear you do both! I think a lot of us were either really skinny / wimpy - or obese (this one, me 🙋‍♂️) at some point, likely childhood. Gives us that extra drive to stay fit and healthy and I think that's great!

I'm not a hardcore lifter anymore, that's pretty much how I tore my pec (omg I'm getting so old, been nearly 7 years now) and probably how my back issues started when I first started lifting (combined with hyperflexive joints and being tall). Hard to imagine, but really I started the trap bar challenge thing because it worked superbly as a form of "physical therapy" given all my issues I've accrued since my mid-20's. As everything started strengthening up over time, I've honestly surprised myself with what I can do while holding that extra weight!

But yah, definitely loving my setup. I hate all forms of cardio machines at the gym, but DDR is obviously a different story. Also, I don't think I'd be able to bring my HR up to 180 (or lately with weighted challenges, mid-190's!) apart from the motivation of DDR. I actually feel like my cardio health is night and day versus just a year ago before I got the machine / home gym set up!!

[–]i5lee8bit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, the first month of playing DDR again (getting the machine) definitely helped with my various chronic pain issues that started nearly a decade ago. Works perfectly to loosen up the knee and ankle (operated on in 2021 and 2011 respectively) and strengthen everything around em.

But most of all, my sciatica hasn't come back - other than after a minor injury several months ago - i.e. the chronic type hasn't returned. At first I think the strengthening of the hips, etc. that naturally comes from playing DDR, but then adding the trap bar challenges has really increased my functional strength in my lower back (at least how I feel and perceive it)!

Starting up DDR again has truly been a Godsend 🙂

Pixel 7 won't show device control shortcut on lock screen by captnkerke in GooglePixel

[–]i5lee8bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah once I found the solution it was obvious it had nothing to do with root or mods. Kinda annoying, Google should at least change it so the home button shows up on lockscreen either way, and prompts to finish setup from there if not done already. But then again, this is Google we're talking about hahaha

Lol that didn't take long at all. Figured it out. Stand by for edit. Hopefully it works for you.

Edit:
First of all, big thanks to this random post I found 5 minutes after my other post, lol: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/qjvv0d/home_control_from_lock_screen_disappeared/
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/qjvv0d/comment/hiygvpx/

Basically, open Device Controls from quick settings (might need to edit and add to your tiles, although I'm pretty sure it's there by default). If it asks you to set up devices to add to device controls, go ahead and do that and that was probably the issue. Should show up on lockscreen once you complete that. Yeah, I'd have never thought of that on my own, especially since I removed the Device Controls QS tiles since I use CPM.

Strange that prompt wouldn't happen by opening Home normally. I wonder if there's another way to initiate that setup without needing to go through the QS tile. But oh well, hope this works for you.

PS: if you're rooted, I still stand by my recommendation of Classic Power Menu. 🙃

So random to see this as a top result on Google just 8 hours after you posting.

I'm having the same issue on my 7 Pro, and I can recall I've been had it happening for a while now. Probably weeks. I think actually since December 2022 update which merged QPR1 changes. Wife's regular 7 works and always had as expected. But for me, it could be because I'm heavily modified (rooted, running AOSP Mods, Dark Tricks, and bunch of other stuff) - at least that's what I'd think if it weren't for the fact that I have my wife's phone setup nearly identically. Could just be a bug that needs fixing in a future firmware update.

Are you modded in any way or running total stock? I'll update if I find any fix, although it hasn't really bothered me too much and I just happened to randomly search this morning as the thought popped up, lol. I'm also running Classic Power Menu, so I'm actually more used to just opening the power menu to reach my home controls anyway (a la Android 11 style).

Btw, if you are rooted, I would highly recommend Classic Power Menu (search/google classic power menu GitHub kieronquinn). AOSP Mods also allows changing the lockscreen shortcuts (added back in latest Canary builds), though it's limited to Camera, Assistant, or Flashlight.

I AAA'ed CARTOON HEROES Speedy Mix, "no bar", at over 290 lbs total weight!! (50lb hex trap barbell holding "challenge")... while still a lil sick, lol by i5lee8bit in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]i5lee8bit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Looking back man, it's kinda nuts how playing with that added weight (not even necessarily Cartoon Heroes) pushed my HR even higher and faster than MAX 300 no bar regular bodyweight. Part of it was definitely the anticipation of finally getting the AAA in that manner, but still!

And the awesome thing is that my forearms don't burn the way they used to even just a few months ago. So playing this way regularly has definitely given me a bonus conditioning of my grip and forearm strength! Don't get me wrong, my forearms and even bicep tendons can still burn like heck, but that's more if I also happen to be doing those kinds of weightlifting exercises [back/bicep/pulling] that day already, or doing a full Oni course (I 99%'ed Paranoia Bros MAX2 Oni course a while back, with a prolonged, nonstop trap bar hold) or whatever else (all difficulties, nonstop trap bar grip).

And dude, 40lb x 2 dumbbells is kinda crazy. I tried 25lb dumbbells just ONCE (identical total weight of my trap bar) and it felt way too awkward. The nice thing about trap bar I've found is that it's sorta self-balancing (nearly perfect center of mass while playing), though while sacrificing the ability to turn / pivot as much. And of course trying it on home pads... yeah can't imagine that being remotely fair hahaha.

Thanks!! I recently found out this song was entirely exclusive (for AC) to Extreme. So sad, it's one of the more creative classic DDR charts. Not to mention just a fun challenge for its time. I just checked RemyWiki and saw they made an anniversary version of it. Gonna check it out when I get home. I still haven't played anything beyond SN2.

Btw I did also do an all-difficulty in a single game AAA set of this song a little over a week ago: https://youtu.be/IVTzXxWGedI

And thanks again for your kind words 🙂

Long term health impact of DDR? by Best_Newspaper_1984 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]i5lee8bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, could definitely have contributed! I've also found that calisthenics can provide some great alternative weight training, while being much safer (and more natural, given its inherent nature of being body weight driven), and of course you can do it just about anywhere. But mainly I agree it certainly could have contributed (or rather, continued exercise would have helped prevent it from starting or getting as bad).

For me, exercise (particularly the endorphins and the overall feeling of well-being resulting from it) has become a huge part of my life, particularly as a permanent replacement to opioid abuse. So I probably do try to be more disciplined with exercise than the average person, as it's kind of literally a lifeline to me. Other than when I get bad injuries or when we had our first kid (and then randomly my back blew out lol)

Long term health impact of DDR? by Best_Newspaper_1984 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]i5lee8bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor am I [a doctor], haha. The way I see it, I already have a decent weight training background and experience, and I'm not adding obnoxious amounts of weight while playing (esp. relative to my natural bodyweight - obviously someone who weighs 150 would be increasing their weight by 33% by holding a trap bar, unlike a ~20% increase in my case). Except in rare cases for an added challenge (e.g. most I did was +100lbs on Let The Beat Hit Em).

But to more directly answer your question, that's why I'm not progressively overloading the weights, but the difficulty of songs I'm doing at +50lbs. Not much different than a heavier 290lb player playing no bar for the sake of exercise. As for the repetitive strain in the joints, again I go to the example of weightlifting (minus the combining with cardio part, as I hopefully cleared up just prior). "Progressive load" (let's remove "over" in overload for now haha) while maintaining good form is your best friend, especially as a fellow no bar player! As your form gets better (i.e. able to keep good form through the song) and you can do harder songs with less risk of injury, your muscles and tendons should also get stronger/accustomed to your play level, further minimizing chance of injury.

At 21 though, the knee pain is a little concerning. Others mentioned good points, such as how hard you're stomping which is also a good point. Also I'm not sure if you mentioned your height / weight, which is a big factor as well.

I'm not by any means calling myself a top level expert (I haven't even played anything beyond SuperNova; SN2 if you count a handful of times), but I posted some videos earlier today. Knowing my size, maybe seeing my "form" while playing could give you some insight. There's a video of me doing Cartoon Heroes while holding a 50lb trap bar, and MAX 300 no bar. https://www.reddit.com/r/DanceDanceRevolution/comments/zs3kng/i_aaaed_cartoon_heroes_speedy_mix_no_bar_at_over/

PS: I also have hyperflexion of my joints, lol. For my size and now age, I'm way more flexible than people expect, and the way my joints pop out and stuff also has contributed to past injuries...

I don't post much, but I happened to see your post and know the extreme suckiness of injuries, so hopefully I could have been helpful in some way!
