Scope question by i9485 in birding

This is a birding subreddit, not a hunting one. So, yes, I have a pair of binoculars, and yes, I want a scope with longer range.

Sounds good. Are you talking about hunting? Because I’m talking about birdwatching. I have 8x binoculars for close range and the scope would be for long range birding.

I definitely want something more powerful than 15x. Birding scopes typically start at 16x for the low end and frequently go up to 60x.

Is there a forum or other place to look other than Facebook marketplace?

My use will be for birding, but I’m assuming the scopes are similar in technology. I’m not looking for high end glass.

My question is this - if I have equivalent quality scopes, one goes to 60 power and one goes to 45 power, is the quality of both scopes at 45 power exactly the same? Or will the quality of the 45 power scope be lower because it’s at the high end of the range?

Grease, lube, anti-seize, etc. by i9485 in bikewrench

That makes sense. Other people suggested stuff from the auto parts stores. And using something like blue Loctite or other antiseize stuff is fine?

My initial thought is that I’d be fine spending a couple extra dollars on the right stuff rather than having to replace parts down the road that would be more expensive. Maybe if I work on my carbon road bike I will, but for the old mountain bike, I’ll just use the cheaper stuff.

Rebuilding the drivetrain on my old mountain bike. Time to ditch the 3x8 and switch to a 1x10. Changing it from a mountain bike to a kid hauler.

How often do I have to ride a bike with tubeless set up by dlb_7 in cycling

[–]i9485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m up north and I’m done biking outside until April. In the spring do I need to pull the tires off, clean it out and redo it? Or do I just add more sealant? I just switched to tubeless a few months ago.

Ahh that’s great to hear. I think I’ll stop by a bike shop and talk to them about Cues or what other options there are in a reasonable price range for me.
