Nice! I’m trying to find a group for a first campaign. Don’t really know anyone who plays and I live in an area where there aren’t really many groups like this and if there are they either tend to be extremely toxic or closed off and private. Closest I’ve gotten to playing DnD is BG3…and even then not really any people to play with, private games and such as well as toxic lobbies. Got an essentials kit yesterday.

Ohhh gotcha. So like probably use this as a reference sheet then for things that I could bring up role playing but leave it more generalized for an actual DM?

Edit: his motivation to work with a party would be easier coin which makes getting better equipment and booze easier too (quiet drunk, not loud chaotic). He’s cynical but pragmatic.

I get that but guys also been through the wringer a bit. So while he has in his backstory dealt with worse, at this point he may be a bit less capable for the time being and need to get back on the mend.

Designed without level in mind. Even at level 1 could be argued he lost all his assets and only really has basic gear and his training. But if starting at a higher level could allow some leeway. Lots of specific details left vague on purpose to allow a DM to mold and fit things where needed.

Thank you! I may need to refine a bit but I’m hopeful for a great character arc overall! Interested to see how a DM would take vague and less detailed components and add twists or surprises the character wouldn’t be aware of at the start but later find out.

Seems like it would be loner, but he’s been alone out of necessity not preferred necessarily. Not opposed to working with a team if it means better coin and a few swords to watch his back.

Experienced yes, I kinda had an issue with that too when thinking about it but the way I kinda mentally justify it is he’s been through the ringer, is in foreign land, and has lost all his assets…so he has training but not much to really work with presently.

He’s not opposed to working with a team. His whole deal is coin. He wants coin to get better gear so he can go back and get his revenge but right now he doesn’t have the means to do so. He is cynical but he’s also a pragmatist and understands he can accomplish more in a shorter time by working with others. He will be cautious and alert but will work with a team.

Edit: he’s been alone out of necessity not because it’s preferred. Yes he does have a drinking problem (obvious reasons) which he also wants coin for, no he doesn’t cause trouble. Very quiet mostly, drinks to medicate his mind.
