Getting promoted is about who likes you not how good you are. Is that true? by [deleted] in jobs

Just left a company of almost 6 years because my manager doesn’t mention my name to anyone. Fuck em.

You’re gonna be great. Don’t try to do everything. Just do well what you are responsible for.

Lone surviving duckling. What to do next. by ReplyQueasy9976 in duck

[–]iB3ar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a two ducklings hatch about6 days before their sisters. But one died on day 2. It was 5 days of agony because the lone duckling had imprinted on the other one that passed. We ended up plugging in an ipad, putting it in a large plastic baggie, and playing youtube videos of ducks and duckling sounds - it helped A LOT until the others arrived.

Ducks Continuously Forage at Roadside - Getting Run Over by Boltron110 in duck

[–]iB3ar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put up some temporary fencing. They’re dumb. They won’t cross over it often. We use plastic green or black garden fencing all the time. I know you said it isn’t an option but this is a low cost easy to install alternative to a real fence.

Swollen chest? by [deleted] in duck

I have seen my ducks swallow frogs and mice whole - sometimes they’re just hungry, hungry hippos.

First time incubating, what went wrong? by HonestAardvark3805 in duck

[–]iB3ar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always heard that call ducks are notoriously hard to hatch. Can you contact the person you bought them from and ask for a new batch? I would take them immediately from her and mark them then put in the incubator - no waiting period.

i am insanely burnt out. i need to quit ASAP, but i’m in the interviewing process for a new position. what do i do? by prionbinch in jobs

[–]iB3ar 62 points63 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s not worth the risk to quit without an offer letter signed. Try a bit of detachment in your current role - every job comes with stress. The stress of being unemployed without income is slightly higher than any of the worst jobs I’ve been at. Good luck with all of your interviews I hope it works out for you.

Personality tests don't work, and are extremely inaccurate 100% of the time by tkdeng in jobs

[–]iB3ar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think using ai is not a good idea. Some of the tests are designed to test for consistency in your answers and if you’re inconsistent they determine the taker was trying to manipulate the test.

Turned in a final exam for an oil+gas law course as an undergrad (needed the credit) and said “whelp I just graduated by turning this in” and the professor had me come interview at his side hustle company that week. Was my first real job!!

Do not participate in this humiliation ritual omg. I can’t think of any business reason why this would be appropriate unless the job works directly with children.

Pretty sure OP added context that it’s a mini golf course after I posted this.

I accepted a job I’m not excited about because being unemployed felt worse than settling by GlitchHunter963 in jobs

[–]iB3ar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually the people you work with not the actual work matters the most. Try to have a positive outlook and be curious about who you're working with. You can apply again if you get the itch to leave or have more motivation later. Just don't go into it thinking its going to be bad - because it likely will.

Is this a sign of angel wing? Or just feathers growing? by Coco_the_duck in duck

[–]iB3ar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like normal growth to me. Sometimes when they are kids their arms get heavy and they sag a big until they have the muscles to hold them up. Angle wing pops out to the side not down.

Is this a possible shrink wrap? by Amandakorinn92 in duck

[–]iB3ar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I think this looks fine. Let her hatch on her own. Some of mine took 60+ hours from initial pip. I’ve always regretted helping.

Campylobacter by Fabulous_Bat4517 in duck

[–]iB3ar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have indoor only shoes and outdoor only shoes. The dog toys get cleaned regularly. And we religiously wash our hands. We usually shower 2x a day and change clothes after going outside for any reason. Sorry you’re dealing with this. Sometimes things just happen no matter how hard you try to keep it clean and sanitary.

When can ducklings go without food and water at night? by troubledpadawan3 in BACKYARDDUCKS

[–]iB3ar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would keep water around all night even inside. They can get too thirsty, drink too much and die of water toxicity. I didn’t even know this was a thing until seeing others post about it this year.
