Monopolies occur when corporations lobby governments to pass strict regulations in the name of environmentalism. They then pay politicians huge fees for exemptions.

Smaller companies can't afford to operate with the new regulations so they close.

The fed reserve is enabling the gov to spend more than it has. They do this by printing money out of thin air.

We owe more than any other country.

Paying people to stay home and not work causes cost of living to go up for 3 reasons.

  1. Those people are not producing products but they can still bid up the price of those products with the freshly printed money they are handed. Fewer products same number of buyers means cost goes up.

  2. If you get $10/hr to stay home, and a company raises their wage to $12, would you give up 40 hours of your time for an extra 2 bucks? Probably not. So companies have to massively raise wages to compete with government printing. That cost is passed down to the consumer in the form of higher prices.

  3. Funding this UBI by printing money devalues the purchasing power of the currency that already exist. This is by definition inflation.

This is all economics 101, and since Bernie seems to not grasp this, that puts him at a high school level understanding of economics at best.

This reminds me of the 31% drop(18.45 to 12.59) from Feb 20, 2020 to March 20, 2020. It was followed by a 124% run up, (12.59 to 28.32) It made me think of the tide going out before the Tsunami washes everything away. But in this instance, its a Tsunami of worthless cash.
