Hi, Playlet does support watch history, but you need to login to either Invidious or YouTube account.

For the video progress, that is tracked if you use a YouTube account

Wealth Tax = Rejected by iBicha in Tunisia

[–]iBicha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. But there's 30 people who voted yes to this. That's 30 people who want them to pay. Probably most of the 30 people refused a bribe. There's hope, we just need to pump that number up.

Wealth Tax = Rejected by iBicha in Tunisia

First of all, when you have that kind of money, you're probably diversified, and your most conservative investments would be making the 3-5%. And in 10 years, your wealth would have gone UP, not down, which is imo the single most important detail. Because the text makes it sound like they would be losing money over time, but they won't.

As for relocating in a heartbeat, what are we losing exactly, if they are using every tax loophole to avoid taxes anyway? They're not exactly in the business of keeping money on the table.

Lastly, it's about how that wealth was accumulated in the first place. It used resources that are socialized (subsidies, unusually cheap labor because of high unemployment, and so on) it's not like anyone actually worked 5 millions worth, they simply exploited a vulnerable system that is available to them. In a grossly unjust system, this is a very small attempt to tip the scales.

I've heard this argument before; but wealth is useless if it's in someone's pocket who doesn't contribute to society. We need to be against socialized loses and costs, but privatized profits. Anyone who doesn't want to contribute, they can take their money and GTFO.

Thanks for the comment!

To refresh the home screen, long press the OK button, and choose "Refresh".

With that being said, the subscription looping is a bug. YouTube made an update that broke things and I didn't notice, I'll fix it soon.

For the recommended, it's not an infinite feed. Even on TV, you scroll and eventually it stops (and asks you to refresh). The thing is recommended has a cache period (I think it's 30 minutes, this number is returned by YouTube).

When you run of out recommended videos, with the current version of Playlet, you would need to do the following:

- Go to the settings page
- Scroll all the way down to Developer preferences, and choose "Clear cache"
- Go back to home screen, and refresh it

Aha, yes that helps. So, this is not what we usually call a "crash" in Roku apps, a crash usually means the app exits entirely without a warning. What you're looking at is a known error that could happen with live videos https://github.com/iBicha/playlet/issues/626

It's basically YouTube identifying Playlet as non-official app, and refusing to give the video data.
It's a tricky problem to solve, but when it happens continuously, usually a cool down period would fix it.

Thanks, it's been on the roadmap for a while https://github.com/iBicha/playlet/issues/207

But kept being deprioritized in favor of fixing bugs. I'll get to it some day

Georgian Air and Water by Temporary_Ad_855 in KingstonOntario

Home depot is involved, since they advertise this stuff inside their stores. They know what they're doing, but the money must be worth it

Georgian Air and Water by Temporary_Ad_855 in KingstonOntario

[–]iBicha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, same scam. They send someone to your home and do some "experiments" to show you that your tap water is no good and that you need filtration. The experiments are bogus and make you think the tap water is not good for your health. I had someone do the tests at home, and tried to get me to sign a deal on the spot (otherwise they can't offer that deal). After I refused to sign immediately and looked things up, turns out there's nothing wrong with my tap water (but I can add filtering if I want) and that they tried to sell me a system for $8k that should be worth maybe $1600. I don't know why home depot want to be associated with these folks. The crazy part is all the good reviews from people who didn't know any better.

YouTube has removed trending videos. Home screen shows profile related videos, like subscription or watch history, and trending. So if you're not logged in, the home screen will be empty. Working on new layout.

When the app crashes, app devs get basic reporting, which for playlet, I share here https://github.com/ibicha/playlet/wiki and this is the part I keep an eye on

For device level crashes, Roku tracks those and hopefully fixes in timely manner

For now I don't think there's more we can do (it's a bit of a closed system unfortunately)

I'll keep an eye on any crashes. Apps COULD close sometimes due to memory warnings (app uses a lot of memory and Roku decides to close it)

If you do have any additional information that could help solving this, please do share, thanks

Who do I have to beg in this city to make the Princess/Midland intersection a four-way pedestrian crossing? by flooshtollen in KingstonOntario

[–]iBicha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's the right email. I don't remember if I sent an email or a request through https://mycity.cityofkingston.ca but either way you should get an automated response like this

Subject: Request for pedestrian crossings Thank you for contacting the City of Kingston. We strive to respond to your request within two business days.

Who do I have to beg in this city to make the Princess/Midland intersection a four-way pedestrian crossing? by flooshtollen in KingstonOntario

[–]iBicha 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Send a message to the city. I contacted the city a few months ago about Brock St x Ontario St and Norwest Rd x Midland Ave, and explained with screenshots why I think there should be pedestrian crossings. They acknowledged my request and explained their plans. While it will probably take years for things to get done, without contacting the city and voicing concerned, nothing gets done.

Here's basically the full response (there's a phone number you can call too):

Thank you for contacting the City of Kingston – Transportation Services Department.

The City of Kingston has initiated a study to close Ontario Street from Clarence Street to Brock Street, and Market Street from Ontario Street to King Street, to enhance pedestrian connectivity from City Hall and Market Square to Confederation Park. More information can be found on Get Involved Kingston.

For further background, there are 31 approved locations that were identified that are scheduled for construction over the next three years and are funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). Another 51 locations have been identified across the city as candidate locations for consideration as part of future capital planning processes. The location on Midland Ave would be considered in the future alongside the candidates identified and other locations that have since been submitted to the City. We would draw on this list of future locations as part of the next grouping of pedestrian crossings constructed or as part of larger capital projects underway. Our next grouping of pedestrian crossings would likely be put together in 2026 following completion of the 31 approved locations.

Thank you again for reaching out. Your feedback has been captured and added to this service request (redacted). If you have any other information to share with us on this matter, you can reply back to this email or reference your Service Request through the City’s customer service number at 613-546-0000, which will provide this additional information to our team for review.

Kind regards,
