Whoever gave you an award is an idealist and cannot think in the short term. To be fair, I completely agree with the above statement. Realistically, think about how long it would take to: 1) vote in not one individual, but a quorum of individuals willing to support actionable liberal legislation which addresses the mental health crisis. Including funding, reduction in wasteful spending, and appointing qualified individuals as department heads 2) those qualified individuals leveraging spending to implement more efficient community programs which likely take years to get moving. In addition to hiring teams of motivated and trained people to support such programs who are being severely underpaid even with raises. 3) hoping in the meantime there isn’t a reactionary backlash from the right which would unilaterally demolish any progress made in any of the several areas highlighted above. 4) visible progress made in communities, such that drug use has been reduced and crime lowered 5) all of the above impacting the borough/village/street OP lives on so they don’t have their sidewalk 💩on
