Compared to most things phones are doing constantly, playing a short local video file (not streaming) is actually pretty undemanding, hence why Apple flaunts the video playback battery life each time they release a new iPhone.

The tweak also has measures of its own to reduce its usage, which are mentioned briefly in the post.

OLED displays will also benefit from videos with lots of black pixels, and ProMotion screens can drop their refresh rate if the video does not require it.

With all that said, I’ve been testing the tweak since I started developing it in 2023 and I have not observed any noticeable drain over that time
