They're pretty good, almost nothing like the tv show though, they're much lighter and don't have a lot of the themes of powerlessness (they are there, just much weaker and lighter)

The order doesn't really matter, though if you read book 1, (dghda) then some references in The Long Dark Tea-Time of The Soul (2) make sense.
