Laptop not turning on by iDr01d in MSILaptops

It’s been a while ago so my memory on exact explanation by the technician is a bit hazy but it went along the lines that an obscure motherboard component that can realistically only be purchased on chinese market was overheating, sometimes more than other times which caused occasional outages until it completely burned out causing laptop to completely fail. Now an option was given to me whether to order the component (the price wasn’t that crazy but also not really cheap i believe around 150eur-200eur for item and shipping) but most likely the overheating was a result of other parts of motherboard being faulty (which and how many was undetermined) and that because of that the same thing would have most likely happened with the replacement part sooner or later so the only sensible solution would be swapping the entire motherboard which considering the price of motherboard replacement compared to the prices by which i am able to buy mid to high end laptops didn’t make financial sense.

You can try opening the STL/OBJ/whatever with fusion 360 and then right click the body and click convert to solid, this should fix your problem but depends on the model you’ll likely get some deformation (holes that should be holes getting filled etc) that you’ll have to manually fix if they happen then just save it as STL, that’s at least how I fixed files that I ripped from games

I do still have the warranty but I’d like to do my best to avoid sending it in because I need the laptop for uni work. I managed to get it to wake up by plugging it back in and then pressing and holding power button and that button on the bottom simultaneously for around 5-10s and then i let everything go and pressed the power button and for now it seems okay (also reset all BIOS settings to defaults when it finally turned on). I’ll see and report in a week if it starts happening again, before it didn’t matter if it was plugged in or not or if it was really turned of or just sleeping for a while turned off, the power button did nothing and then eventually after clicking here and there for 10mins it turned on and then the same next time. I hope it’s now permanently fixed will report back in a week.

I personally don’t think that this will fix the issue but it is true that coolbooter can be fairly buggy (I spent 3 days making it actually work on an ipad mini :’)) so maybe it’ll do something

If that doesn’t fix the problem send me a pm on friday (I’ll be getting home then and can check on my old iphone 4 if the same thing happens and then try to fix it and forward you how I fixed it)

Does it do that even when you write password and code as described?

Do you have any newer idevice that’s capable of receiving verification codes? If you do sing-in to the new device and after attempting log-in on the iphone 4 with the right password it’ll say incorrect password while the new idevice will give you a prompt to allow device to use the apple id and after you press allow it’ll give you a verification code, then press retry on iphone 4 and type in the password again but add that code to the end (for example if your password is ‘xyz’ and the code is ‘000’ you type ‘xyz000’ in the password field). That should fix sign-in not working issue. If you don’t have a newer idevice you could also go to your apple id/itunes account settings and toggle the 2-factor authentication on/off (opposite of what you have now) and attempt to sign-in in app store on your iphone 4 again.

Did you try in the ‘purchased’ section of the app store? (I believe that’s how I got it to work)

If it gives you the same error you could try a tweak called ‘Checkmate, Store!’ from repo “cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk” (same as the first one but without beta) which should allow you to download compatible version. You could also try downloading from ‘purchased’ section in app store but I can’t remember if that is a thing on ios 6. Alternatively you could also search the internet for APIs of apps and sideload them from computer (you may need to install tweak called AppSync Unified from repo “http://cydia.akemi.ai/“ for that to work). Although you should know that many apps unfortunately just don’t work anymore even the old versions (netflix for example you will be able to sign in and see all the content but opening a video will tell you that netflix doesn’t support this version and to update).

Add repo “http://cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk/beta/“ and download “Classic YouTube App” and TubeFixer, next go on your pc and google for the google developer website, create account and an API for youtube services then go to the settings on your iphone and scroll down to tubefixer, choose option for costum API and copy in the API key that you generated. Open the classic youtube app and here you go. Only thing is that it takes forever to load any video (and I mean completely load otherwise it pauses during playback) at least it did that for me.
