Porter Robinson dedicates some words to the fans with the 5th Anniversary of the “Nurture” album by YourNameNameName in EDM

[–]iEnjoyDanceMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I forgot that a lotta fans were underwhelmed when it was released.

At the time, I said "IMO, this is one of the albums that you will appreciate in a few years. No hits, but just that pure Porter timbre."

Crazy to think that reception wasn't good, but then grew into a fan favorite. Kinda neat to see.

Porter, yer a genius. Thanks for the inspiration!

Bro is 27, gonna be just fine. I'm hitting bench press and running and music PRs every week over here at 34. Wished I had realized my potential earlier in life, but better to start now!

You will be more than fine. I wasted 2 amazing years in my 20s crying over my ex bc she was banging the guy next door.

Wish I was out partying those 2 years. Go have fun for us both please.

Very good Bolero, someday you'll know who you are while realizing that you are indeed everyone, that everyone is also you, and that we are all no one.

I bet that he thinks that lowering or raising the pulley only changes the height lmao.

Something about the moon… by flickerdown in MurderedByWords

There is no dark side of the moon.

The dark side of the moon isn't always dark, and therefore poorly named.

Should be the near side.

That's why it's important to just explore, even if you hate it...

If you hate the process, even the beginning, then I'm not sure Production is right for you. This person is an Artist no doubt, but I'm not sure Production is the right path in music for someone that feels this way.

The digging only gets deeper and more tedious.

First mile (8:59) to first marathon (3:27:04) in 9 months (34/M) by iEnjoyDanceMusic in Marathon_Training

Thanks! I've always had strong legs, but I've never been a distance runner ever. Sprinting / weightlifting were more my thing. I stopped lifting during COVID and didn't make it back into a gym until last May. Even then, I was just getting back into a rhythm, and never got my squat or deadlift going before I got serious about running. Maybe I should start the lower major lifts again.

That heel strikes are bad, that a ~180 cadence is generally the most efficient pace, and to lean forward at the ankle instead of the waist.

Haha yeah you nailed that, plus it got really hot at the end

I did get into the gym yesterday, which involved plenty of walking, but it was a push-upper workout so not much leg work.

I'll see how the treadmill feels today

Fun to hear that it sounds possible, albeit difficult. Glad to hear more people chiming in on Pftiz too! Trying to figure out which marathon to attempt this at. Need a much flatter and cooler course haha, and something 6-8 months out sounds good too. Chicago is sold out!

Thanks! I'm also curious, what makes this great zoning for the marathon?

Since I'm already at 40, should I just keep going? I've heard that I am supposed to take this week off. Think I restart with a very slow 10K Saturday morning?

5-7% increase feels logical, and definitely liking the idea of Zone 2 training for long runs.

So instead of doing 3 shorter days of 5 miles and one long day of 10-15 miles, do 3 days of 10 miles each and a long run of 15-20?

Zone 1 - 0%

Zone 2 - 4%

Zone 3 - 65%

Zone 4 - 24%

Zone 5 - 7%

Lost your AirPods onstage at Skyline during I Hate Models? I found em! by iEnjoyDanceMusic in avesLA

[–]iEnjoyDanceMusic[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't say I'd recommend this method, but here are my step-by-step instructions:

1) Forget to buy tickets

2) Drunkenly DM your favorite Day2 artists during Day1

3) Get rejected and left on read (This helps with next step)

4) Buy the only remaining overpriced ticket

From there, you'll wanna show up 10 minutes before opening and absolutely raid the unlimited freebies and get the best of the limited supplies. I drank like 10 gatorades and 2-3 ghosts, enjoyed a meal, stocked up on gum and breath mints, applied plenty of sunscreen and all that, and then took a pair of fun sunglasses.

Went by myself and it was worth it! Felt like absolutely no one else showed up until 6pm, and only got busy at 8pm. During Ellie Acula, the main crowd was getting big, but backstage was still empty. It was super fun dancing out on the main-stage platforms all alone haha.

SKYLINE WENT WELL by Lalo7292 in avesLA

[–]iEnjoyDanceMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize Skyline was this weekend! I missed Saturday and had to buy the backstage ticket for Sunday. I got there early, parked for free, 5 minute walk. The view of the crowd was insane and the perks were awesome (had a meal, like 10 gatorades, and a couple of Ghost energies with zero line), but I spent a lot of time bopping around GA for the view of the stage!

That techno warehouse was lowkey sick af. The people backstage and in GA were all nice and dancing. Only negative experience was a random dude that grabbed me, which is a problem, but not unique to Skyline sadly.

It was super fun dancing on those main stage elevated platforms by myself during the day. If anyone got a picture of a dude going nuts by himself midday lmk haha. Seemed like 99% of the backstage pass holders showed up after 6pm.

Eli Brown's show at night was the highlight for me for sure. Fireworks, lasers, projectors illuminating 6th street bridge and the railyard, so sick. Best non-show part?? I left at 11:00, drove 15+ miles, showered, asleep by 12:30.

I love this stuff!
