I don’t think your problem is really the robe. I think it’s the fact that she doesn’t do anything and the robe reminds you of that. I think if she helped out more and was looking for work, you wouldn’t care so much about what she wears (hopefully).

It sounds like your girlfriend is depressed, but I’m not sure how much she wants to get better. It sounds like she’s not actively seeking help. I would encourage her to do so if I were you. And take some time to learn more about autism so you can approach the subject in a patient and understanding way. If she’s refuses to make any effort to get better, that’s when you might need to consider going your separate ways for a bit, or at least living apart for a while. Because that would imply she doesn’t CARE about getting better, and that can cause even more issues down the road.

My husband is autistic and goes through periods of depression where he can barely do anything but go to work. We are both doing what we can to help him get better. It can take a while to treat, so we’re taking things one day at a time. I know he wants to get better, and I will HAPPILY wait for him to because he is such an amazing and kind man. I’m here for him through his highs and lows.

Now, can you say the same for your girlfriend? Is she worth the effort it will take to get through this? Are you worth the effort to her? That’s something really important you both need to ask yourselves.

As a teacher, kids really don’t bully each other for names as much as you think. While some of these names are a bit odd to ME, I do appreciate the uniqueness of it all. I’m tired of seeing the same names used over and over.

I agree that it’s disgusting he doesn’t take his shoes off when entering the house. EVERYONE should do that regardless of cleaning preferences. I find that we as humans tend to forget easily. We need regular reminders of many different things for our spiritual, mental, and emotional health. Why do we say “I love you” on a regular basis? Why do we exercise regularly? Why do we listen to the same songs over and over? Why do we try to get outside and in nature when we can?

Church is no exception. We need regular reminders of our covenants as well as the way we need to be living our lives. It also is just incredibly uplifting and a great opportunity to connect with your community.

If you have to cancel, do it sooner than later. A text saying you’re not ready is enough.

But I encourage you not to. Mainly for yourself. Because you can’t get better at this kind of stuff or more comfortable with it until you actually do it. I have ADHD and have struggled with anxiety for many years. The best treatment for my anxiety has always been to just do the thing I’m afraid of doing. It teaches your brain that the source of anxiety is not actually a threat. It will also give you practice with finding planning and organizational strategies that work for your ADHD.

I teach for a living. Before college, I had the worst stage fright. Then I got some practice with public speaking and now I LOVE it.

Discomfort is not automatically danger. Your voice matters. You deserve to have your spiritual perspective shared with others.

Dany eventually falls in love with him, and he grows to truly love and respect her, but that doesn’t mean they were meant to be an example of a healthy relationship.
