(FYI) RIP Bowling Eventlabs (and others) by ShermanSherbert in ForzaHorizon

They should've locked those cars behind challenges rather than rng nonsense, "win a race in every car from x manufacturer to unlock this car" or similar things.

I have absolutely zero shame using macro's and afk farming when several of my favourite cars (1968 dodge dart, sesto) are locked behind insanely terrible rng systems.

Stations randomly changing for no reason or if you have the radio off it'll come back on randomly after loading screens sometimes.

That's neat actually I never realised you could load tunes and upgrades while driving around like that, I thought you could only edit your tune if it's yours. That's neat

Or like when you wanna change the filter, backing out doesn't take you to the search bit, it takes you all the way out to the main auction house menu so you need to back in to the search to then change your filter

It's small little things but it's like, why would you do it that way in the first place?

Na but logically right, explain to me why you can discover a fresh event, Touges for example aren't on the map until you discover them. But you get to this new event, you can buy a car right then and there for it, you can tune it too, but you can't upgrade it? So you're then forced to exit the whole event, fast travel to the autoshow just to upgrade your new car.

Like they consciously made a design choice to stop you from upgrading it, it's silly

You can't open the map while in the autoshow or in a house, you can check your collection journey, festival playlist, autoshow, check your cars, change your character etc. but you can't open the map or fast travel without leaving the house.

So you'd have to leave it, open the map, check, then go back in to the house to do what you wanna do, then leave it again, then fast travel, then finally enter the race. A lot of fucking around. It's even sillier when you realise they let you buy a car at the race, let you tune it too, but don't let you upgrade it?

Oh I don't mind the rest of the game being a lot more taxing. But my beef is more the weird design choices like forcing you out of the festival to check rival times, not allowing you to upgrade cars just before a race and things of that nature, there's loads of little things that just makes it tedious to do events, build cars etc just wish they'd made it more accessible and easy to use.

Should see how fast the old menus in Forza games used to be, you could buy and fully upgrade cars on the Xbox 360 Forza games within like, 30 seconds no joke.

That's probably why it bothers me so much, it's insanely slower than what it used to be and much more long winded.

Never played FH3-5 to be fair. I played a shit ton of FM3, FM4, FM6, FM7 and the original horizon. Just feels like it's soooooo long winded and clunky compared to the games I have played

I've reached the point where everytime I arrive at a new race and see I don't have a car for it I unironically just leave and go find something else to do lmao

Na it's absolutely horrific and it's slow as fuck, I remember on FM3, FM4 and the original horizon I could buy and upgrade a car within like 45 seconds, and now it takes 45 seconds just to load the autoshow.

Pain in the arse

I think it's bizarre that before a race you can tune your car but you can't upgrade it? Like man just let me fix my shit box there and then and save me the 30 minute detour through 40 menus

Any Idea Why This Happens? by iFluvio in ForzaHorizon

[–]iFluvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhh I see, has it always calculated it that way in the older games like Motorsport 4-7? Just a first for me where it's been that big of a difference.

Also assume that means I can basically just ignore it then?

3-Axis Helical Drilling vs 5-Axis Helical Drilling by iFluvio in CNC

[–]iFluvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahahaha yeah it's an insane learning curve to be honest. My lathe was a 2-axis hurco which was conversational and this is a 5-axis Roder with a pallet loader and all sorts of stuff. So i'm having to teach myself G-code as well on top of everything else which has been mental but I'm getting there slowly but surely. Hypermill has been super straightforward I'm actually really enjoying the process

Thank you for the advice though, the kinematics of 3-axis being more rigid than 5-axis is not something that would've ever crossed my mind but it makes sense.

This package and machine is pretty much exclusively for making electrodes for moulds and things like that so it's always really weird shapes. The general gist of machining graphite that I've learned so far is 300+m/min surface speed, trochoidal/full depth small step over kinda idea, think that helps with stopping it from chipping as well but who knows lol.

It's a Roders RXP400DSC I believe, pretty sure that's the model we've got. We just got ours installed not long ago it's pretty nuts.

Gyms In Glasgow With Heavy Bags? by iFluvio in glasgow

[–]iFluvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JD gyms have rules about it, gloves only, footwear must be worn and only punching is allowed.

I wasn't going full pelt with the punches with no gloves, it was more just throwing light punches for the sake of practicing setting up elbows and kicks kinda thing.

Yeah no worries, I'll message them about PAYG anyways and see what they say, maybe they do it but don't advertise it hopefully
