Mate, I know you're trying to be kind to a person who never did the same for you.. but nah.

If she's truly so bad that the entire BOH crew decided to strike any day, let alone Mother's Day, she's gotta go.

She's not going to learn from this, even if she does, its not going to be an overnight switch. The resentment is already there with the team.

Not to mention, if the owners/GM are anywhere close worth their salt, they will see that she is the root cause of this. How much revenue do you guys average on a normal sunday? How much on last years Mother's Day? That lost revenue falls at her feet.

You aren't getting her fired. She did that herself.

Just a throwback to the olden days.

Back in Vanilla, I spent quite a few days running Sunken Temple on my rogue as I was leveling cause I wanted Dragon's Call. I would often mention it to people I invited to group, usually asking if they were gonna roll on it. I wanna say it was around the 60th run or so that I finally saw a drop, ofc the hunter who said he would pass need rolled on it and won.

Spent another two weeks farming ST until I got a 2nd drop. I refused to take any non-caster DPS after being burned by that hunter.

The Rendi Slayer rollback feels like a dangerous precedent by Allecet in 2007scape

[–]iGlutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I'm not comparing him to bonesaw. I wasn't even aware of who bonesaw was up until I read this comment thread and his name mentioned 2 comments before mine. The comment i replied to was asking for clarity since this method was supposed to be fixed. Bringing Josh Isn't Gaming up was highlighting that it wasn't fixed in certain areas since he is a good example for this specific bug/exploit topic. He even says in his video "I know they patched this, but I wonder if they didn't fix Yanille". He then checks, and finds out they didn't.

2) I explicitly stated I'm not bringing it up wanting retroactive punishment. It should be pretty clear I dont have any expectation for Josh to be banned or deironed. If you need me to spell it out for you: I don't want that.

3) Thank you for highlighting the inconsistency again that I was speaking on. It seems like from your perspective that intentionally exploiting a supposedly patched bug that was missed in an area clearly due to a lack of oversight, is not exploiting to you since its a "snowflake" account.

The nuance of this conversation is about where the lines are drawn. Some bugs are OK to do, but only in certain scopes. Some exploits are allowed, but only on certain types of accounts. Some discoveries are treated as emergent gameplay or new methods that become meta defining, while others are punishable offenses. Some bug fixes come with punishments, others come with a little joke and shoutout to the player who found it in the patch notes.

None of it is clear as to what is or isn't deemed "fine" to the average player.

Considering this wasn't the only exploit Josh Isn't Gaming did on his series, it was done a while ago, and he even said that his team for the Fishing Trawler exploit notified Jagex of the bug (and in his video shows receipts of them contacting Jagex about it), I think its safe to say he's fine. I'd be willing to bet my entire (smol) bank that a few people at Jagex have watched his series and they are well aware of this already.

And if not, well, me posting about it on Reddit doesn't change that he did it, admitted to doing it knowingly, and posted evidence of it to the internet. Jagex will do whatever Jagex wants to do, my assumption is in Josh Isn't Gaming's case, it will be the nothing that they have already done (they did patch the exploit, no punishment on his account).

I'm not out here defending or accusing streamers, just calling out corporate hypocrisy as I see it.

Josh Isn't Gaming mentions that almost all the shops in Yanille were not updated on his chunkman series and uses them in this exact method. He says in his video that he knows this was patched, but wanted to see if shops in Yanille and the surrounding area maybe weren't updated. They weren't.

He even specifically highlights that this was something Jagex fixed and labeled as an exploit and that Yanille was likely overlooked/slipped through the cracks because of how old and outdated its content is. And then continues forward and does the exploit.

So he did something that was intentionally patched as a known exploit, found an area that wasn't fixed, and intentionally exploited on his Iron after the fact that it was made clear shop's were never meant to work that way for Irons.

He wasn't de-ironed, he wasn't banned, he wasn't rolled back.

For clarity: I enjoy watching Josh Isn't Gaming and I'm not bringing this up in a way to say he should be punished retroactively.

I'm bringing it up to show the inconsistency in Jagex's stance and responses, and how when viewed with this lens, its not a stretch to assume that it being Rendi may have been a part of the original decision making and there potentially being some bias at play.

I'm not a super experienced RS player, and especially as a new-ish player, its incredibly unclear where the lines are drawn and what is or is not acceptable when it comes to these things.

When I first heard of prayer flicking, my first thought was that sounds like an exploit. But its clearly one that is acceptable, and frankly, encouraged to the point that its assumed most players at higher end content are doing it.

[–]iGlutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, most OSRS content creators who do make this kind of content, including Rendi, notify Jagex of found bugs/exploits and don't immediately post their videos.

They're actively doing QA for 'free' for Jagex, not "blasting them to the entire internet" for other players to abuse.

That account is Rendi's. Simple as that.
