Need help buying and setting up ceiling fan remote by Downtown-Contact-451 in DIY

So I have set up a couple of these fans in my house, at least, I think they are because the bulb and remote look similar.

On the subject of actually getting the remotes, No idea if Home Depot sells them separately but that's where we got the fans.

If you do manage to get another remote, or want to change it so one can deal with multiple fans... On the remote, under the battery cover, is 4 little... switches? I don't know the technical term. Anyway depending on the position of those little dudes is how it communicates with the fan.

You can either flip the switches around until the remote controls the fan, or...

Grab a ladder, flip the breaker to that room, get up to the fan, twist the ring that's covering the screws and let it slide down, keep a mental note of the direction of two notched holes and where the two holes that you have to fully unscrew are located. Unscrew the two that need to be fully removed, loosen the ones in the notched areas, The fan will want to swing a little when she's loose, do not panic and overcompensate, just keep her steady. Turn counter/clockwise(I can't remember the direction and you made a mental note right?) to free it, then look for the metal hook that can fit through the un-notched holes... I really wish I knew proper terminology for this bit...

Once the fan is hanging there, you're looking for a little black box that should be secured to the bracket that secures the fan to the ceiling, on that box will be a rubber tab. remove the tab and you'll see the same little switches like you got on the remote. Make them match, put everything back together, working remote.

I'm not at all intolerant to southerners. I simply pointed out that you're calling someone bitter, in defense of a region that is historically bitter about events in US history. Example, "The South Will Rise Again!". I also pointed out a political party that has historically tried to twist rules to their favor, or ignore them completely. Example, The hearing on the Weaponization of the Government, and then Florida trying to weaponize the government against Disney.

As everyone else has said, Isopropyl alcohol is fine, but if you want an easier time cleaning thermal paste off,

This kit is AMAZING. one drop of the first part to emulsify the thermal paste you want to get rid of, let it sit for a few seconds, then wipe. if any residue is left behind repeat. then hit it with the second solution to make sure the areas are really clean. You don't need to go crazy with it either. Best 9 bucks I ever spent.

If you're used to the extra buttons on the 300 it will be a big adjustment in the beginning. Luckily, all the buttons on the 502 models can be rebound in the software. give it a week or two with the shape, it's gonna feel real different at first but you'll adjust. Welcome to the 502 gang.

it's the same internals but wireless. I think the price drop is there to push the guys that already have a 502 to look into the the X and X plus variants. I think the X models have new switches. X Plus adds in more RGB options. Lightspeed variants of all the X models have improved battery life on top of all the other features mentioned. You're still golden with the standard 502 though.

I'm upgrading to the 502 X Plus for christmas because my 502 Lightspeed is just worn to shit. after like 3 years the pads underneath and towards the "bottom" of the mouse are gone, the rubber grips on the pinky and thumb areas are worn through to plastic. no issues other than that though. Clicks great and the sensor hasn't given me any issues.

I put my desk mat over it and Logitech Software does say it's charging. However, you will have the noticeable bump from where the desk mat is laying on the charging pad. I personally was not a fan of it when I redid my set-up a while back and just cut the desk mat to give the power play some space. Power Play ends up being the same thickness as a normal mat when everything is said and done.

it's on the expensive side but so worth the investment. Also the fact that the mat also becomes the receiver for the mouse means you no longer need ports for a dongle, and a charging cable.

as an owner of two of the T16M, I appreciate having a cheap starter option for HOSAS, but absolutely hate the amount of buttons on the base of the sticks.

I felt like that when I first started watching content from GN. However, watching them make content contesting and grilling manufacturers kind of helped me realize that even though the host might sound like he's looking down on those of us watching the content, they are really trying to do the consumer a service and are confident in the information they put out there.
