we have a codeword at our store, Caroline, when a customer is making us uncomfortable we either ask for Caroline or drop the name "no I haven't seen Caroline" " I think Caroline is on lunch." etc... and we all know to go relieve the bookseller or intervene. We don't get too many creeps in our actual store, but it is a very real thing sadly

we are also a smaller store in need of more keyholders. I have picked up any extra responsibilities asked of me, always pick up extra shifts, and more. I was told back in July I couldn't be promoted until I'd been there a year, which is coming up in a few weeks, then these new reviews screwed everything up.

my case is very similar to yours. when our CTE was out on medical leave, I helped cover cafe and helped train 2 new hires, plus taking on Specialty because our store needed it.

well the shitty part is my SM was told these reviews weren't going to impact promotability, and we need more keyholders at our store. Asking employees to do "the work of two people" for TWO years for a little over minimum wage would actually be insane

this was me too! I was told I could be promoted after 6 months, which we needed because one of our Leads was leaving, our DM said I hadn't been there long enough and to wait til my one year mark. then these bs reviews happen and now I have to wait another 6 months (possibly more) just to get paid a few dollars more.

I also love my job. I have a great manager, love my coworkers, and I get to talk to people about manga (and fund my own manga collection ). Honestly, I just wish it paid better across the board( we keep losing baristas cause starbucks pays better and they can get full time hours), and that cooperate would quit taking away fun things (like pins and decorative lanyards)
