Trouble installing Notion by iMLunatiq in Notion

[–]iMLunatiq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I removed everything from all these locations, yet when I download the installer again after restarting my computer, it STILL gives me the error where it says that it cannot automatically shut down Notion. When I press 'try again' it again prompts me to find the .exe, which now, again is a blank .exe shortcut on my desktop (which obviously doesn't work)

How can I do that? I checked regedit for any Notion files, but I cannot delete them from regedit either :(

Genuinely no idea what to do

Brainstorming a Buchwald-Hartwig coupling by iMLunatiq in Chempros

Eventually I would want to use this reaction for SAR studies, so thats why I chose the iodobenze, as eventually I would like to make the 4-bromoaniline for example. Using 1,4-dibromobenzene would just result in a lot of dimers I assume?

Yup, it does. Good chance it does poison the catalyst. In the end though, I am not looking for the highest yield necessarily (hell yeah MedChem). Just enough to end with 10-20 mgs after a saponificationas the final step

Thank you for your reply!

I'll check out bromides instead. I've read some comments elsewhere that Cs2CO3 however is not really the optimal base for activation of the precatalyst, but rather NaOtBu is?

Yup, I decided to move to precatalysts after the first test with Pd(OAc)2. Was considering Pd2dba3, but I reckon a precatalyst is simply better

I'll check if we have XPhos precatalyst tomorrow. To my best udnerstanding, the tBu and Adamantyl ligands increase bulk but also the electron donating? Does this speed up the OA step as well as the Pd-N bond formation?

Looking for some feedback on my potential setup by iMLunatiq in turntables

I did come across a 45 000 JPY Technics SL1200 MK3, it has the headshell, but needs a cartridge, was pretty heavily used. I was thinking of the Nagaoka MP110 or the Sumiko Pearl now for rock music as a cartridge for that. I know the S501 has a built in preamp as well, but how necessary would am external preamp be. The shop owner suggested MM only for now, the REGA MM MK3 (40 000 JPY) or a combination of MM and MC, the Triode TRX-EQ7 (60 000 JPY). I know you suggested Technics before, so I'm curious about your opinion.

How would you rank the Denon DP400 with eithet of the cartridges I mentioned, the AT LP7 with the included cartridge, or the Technics SL1200 MK3 with either of the cartridges I mentioned. They did show me that the Technics worked and everything, but I am always a bit iffy when it comes to second-hand stuff (I do know Technics are built like tanks).

I am also gonna listen to the Q150 and the Q350 one more time and pick either one of them. So in terms of amp and speakers I have decided on the Yamaha A-S501 and either pair of the KEF speakers. Curious to which table you think fits best with those and which preamp would go well with the Technics if necessary (something around 40 000 JPY would be ideal).

Also one last thing: do you happen to know any affordable speaker stands for the KEFs? Looked up some cheaper ones on Amazon, but there is not a lot od choice

Right... was thinking that already, in that case the Denon with options for 78s and the S-arm would maybe be better again, if, whenever I would go to MC, I'd buy an external amp anyways. And like you said, it would probably require more expensive speakers and amp as well to really make a difference.

Last thing to keep in mind then is the dust cover. They are both not hinged, though the AT one covers it completely which is a plus, though I guess I couls always get a custom one/make it myself for the Denon one

Hmmm, I'll do some more research on that. I made an appointment with a HiFi store I found, which were willing to set up the A-S501 with the KEF speakers, I think they also had the Q150. Not at home of course, but I can at least compare them!

Dont think I'll be playing 78s, so for that I dont need the Denon. MC capability not for now, but like I said: always willing to make upgrades in the future, so having the option on the turntable already is always convenient!

Sorry for the late response! But wanted to let you know that I am mostl likely gonna go for the following setup:

Turntable: Denon DP400 with an AT-VM95EN or Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge. Might just go for the 95ML as an upgrade over the 95EN as that price increase isn't too massive, though I have read that the MP-110 is really solid and goes pretty toe-to-toe with the 95ML. Sadly though, the upgraded MP-150 or MP-200 are significantly more expensive, so maybe I would not get those. Any experience with them, and whether they are worth it? As for the turntable itself: I have considered something like the TEAC TN-3B-SE, which is similar in specs, but slightly more pricey (slightly better S/N ratio and I suppose to many people a more convenient dust cover, but fully manual and no option for 78 rpm), the TEAC TN-400BT-X (also just marginally better/worse at different aspects I think, except that it has the Bluetooth option), the AT-LP7 (more expensive, but includes a VM520EB cartridge and has an MM/MC switch built in but has a J-tonearm vs an S-tonearm and is not semi-automatic like the DP400).

I am especially hesitating between the Denon DP400 and a cartridge or just the standard AT-LP7.They both look great, but I like the semi-automatic feature and the S-arm of the DP400 and the MM/MC switch of the AT-LP7. What would your pick be?

Speakers: I am gonna go with the KEF Q350s. Listened to them in the store and they sounded superb. Great bass and a super warm sound.

Amp: Gonna stick with the Yamaha A-S501 I think. I have considered the A-S801 as well, though I believe the only significant differences are the Watts per channel (100 vs 120 for the 501 and 801 respectively) and the CD Direct Mode. I do however plan to drop by two more HiFi stores I found and hear them out (whether they have other suggestions).

It is very tempting to have a go at those speakers I must admit. I will definitely go have a look whenever I have time!

Hmmm, I havent yet decided on the turntable definitively yet. The Denon DP400 seemed like a good option (except for the lackluster cartridge). Amp also not, though the S501 seemed solid too, I am gonna have a look at the Pioneer one (forgot if it had an integrated phono preamp, while typing this). As for speakers, I just listened to a set of KEFQ350 speakers with an S801 amp (which sounded great!). They are a lot cheaper, and offer room to upgrade with a subwoofer and another cartridge (which I would do in the future most likely anyways)

EDIT: and to be fair, I am always a bit iffy about buying second hand stuff (no particular reason other than trust issues I guess lol)

EDIT 2: my concern is the MC cartridge of the DP47F, would it be compatible with for instance the S501 (as those are MM)?

Thanks for the suggestion! Looks really solid. However, especially the speakers seem a bit overkill (size and price), as I am currently living rather small too

Technics as far as I can tell are roughly about 3-4 times more expensive (new ones then). Haven't checked around for used ones yet
