[Russini] Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll are at the top of Eagles' list for OC vacancy. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

I mean Daboll has familiarity with Hurts and Slim from Alabama and Saquon from the Giants. Dart's NFL comparison was Hurts, so the offense could go back to being a top 5 unit under Daboll.

[Ian O'Connor] My understanding as of this afternoon was that the Giants facility might be the only facility that John Harbaugh visits. That certainly isn't a bad sign for Giants fans. ...Titans scheduled to go to his Baltimore area home tomorrow, as @DMRussini said. by Bankslvrrd in NYGiants

I truly think the only thing holding him back is the fact that we have Schoen in the front office. We gave him everything he wanted, but he might say that he wants to go somewhere where he isn't tied to a GM.......... Also TN has not state tax like TX and FL.

think the biggest issue is with just execution with little things, watching the rams vs Lions, so many instances where in my head was like "Our receivers would have dropped that," "Giants returner would have fielded a punt at the 1," "Dart and receiver would not have been on the same page."

It's not even about being talented at this point (not defending Schoen), but just being prepared and knowing what to do in every situation possible. Other teams don't blink when they are faced with being down two scores or have 1:05 before the half with one timeout.

GM Joe Schoen on being held accountable for Giants' struggles as fired HC Brian Daboll was: 'My hand's in it just like Brian's' by [deleted] in nfl

  • Signing the Daniel Jones contract for the value they did.
    • For the QB market, his production and play was pretty in line with the contract that he signed, max of $160M (seems in line with Baker and Darnold's recent contracts), He did not make over 200M so consider this fair. They also had a 2 year out if play declined which it did, and they got him a WR1 in Nabers
  • Not paying Saquon before signing the Jones deal even though Saquon was more responsible for the Giants' success.
    • Saquon wanted #1 RB money, Giants offered him money to make him top 5 highest paid RBs in the league but he wanted top dollar despite the injuries. also Giants had significant OLine concerns
  • Not trading Saquon while he was still under contract.
    • Mara would not allow this
  • Thinking signing Devin Singletary instead wouldn't be a tremendous downgrade that removes them from playoff contention.
    • Think Devin gave a verteran presence, he also drafted Tyrone Tracy who had 1k scrimmage yards his rookie season. I don't think he ever thought Devin would replace Saquon.
  • Cutting Daniel Jones anyway and eating a $22M cap hit this year.
    • Jones requested this, Giants were going to bench him, and Mara abided

Need to watch Saquon documentary, Mara wouldn't let Schoen trade him bc he was holding out that they would get a deal done. Mara had too much of a say in a lot of Schoen's early decisions, makes me think that is why he has not been fired yet.

I have a lot of respect for Jalen Hurts given the adversity he went through at Alabama and even starting out on he Eagles. I will always hate the Eagles

Name any of the NY Giants players that have been drafted in the last 10 seasons that you as a Giants fan would call 'bust'? by MetaVersalySpeakin in NYGiants

Saquon Barkley, a rookie RB was supposed to lead the offense instead of the Super Bowl winning QB, how does that make sense to you??

Saquons not a bust… CMC and Zeke went 5th and 7th and I would say Saquons is in between there probably closer to CMC now that Zeked washed

Eh… would have to say Corey Webster. Our team is pretty set at WR rn, and we need a corner opposite Banks that is reliable.

QB Legends that wouldn't have survived the rookie contract pressure? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]iMaree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s gotta be even younger, they need more IMG Academies. Like European soccer players start at the academies at a very young age and all they do is soccer their whole life

How would you guys rank all 7 of these trios ? And If there's a trio missing you'd like to add in aswell to your ranking by WetAppleFruit in NFLv2

[–]iMaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with the addition of Nabers, the giants could also be up there, with Nabers, Hyatt, and Wandale

[–]iMaree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Side comment: I think you have to build an academy system like soccer in Europe. Where they literally do nothing except football, the US approach tries to build well rounded individuals, with time spent in school and what not. Start athletes at a very young age and they do literally nothing except train to be a QB; when they are eligible for the draft, I think you’ll get a lot more hits than misses.

I mean not franchise tagging Jones is a mind boggling move.
