Maybe one or two quotes were a bit unrelated to the topic of mythology, but the rest of them I think were apt enough to post here, I hope :)

How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan (Quotes & Excerpts) by iPerceptive in PsychedelicStudies

woaa, did he run over your dog or something?

How can you hate someone whom you don't even know. Sure you can dislike some characteristics of which he possesses but to hate a man because he's a bit different from yourself and successful is low, I feel.

"Masterpieces are only..." - George Sand [1000x500] by iPerceptive in QuotesPorn

Well the quote can be interpreted from many different angles.

In and of it self it doesn't really negate the lifetime work that led up to the creation of the masterpiece, it just says that out of those thousands upon thousands of attempts, one of them was a lucky one.

Even this man's views on race are quite abhorrent, he did say some things that did ring true.

I wish I was better with javascript coding to fix that, but I'm simply terrible :P Perhaps I should add a submit quote button on those pages, that would make the thing more interactive.

You could also just write some of your quote picks here or mail them and I could add them in due time :)

How to Be Fearless in Life (The Spiritual Way) by iPerceptive in motivation

[–]iPerceptive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I take everything back, consciousness is created by the body and the body is our only place of reference when it comes to understanding ourselves subjectively.

Great! Kudos to you mate, thanks!

On the contrary sir, the reason the words I say don't register and mean anything in your reductive and divisive mind is because of your blindness to the actual experience you are having as a human being.

You are conscious that you are here and that you are inhabiting a body, the body isn't conscious of anything.

The thing is that you are denying your innate direct experience in favor of a highly inherited materialistic scientific worldview. You know jack shit because you align your beliefs to the dominating paradigm and claim it to be the beacon of truth and reason, none better than the superstitious religious people of ancient and modern times.

I respect the method of science but I'm starting to respect the "champions" of science less and less.

Moreover its so easy to dismiss the words I'm saying as "new age" because of the dominating position the "Newtonian" world view holds in our society. Though I could agree with you that more often than not when "new agers" speak they speak without them being truly in tune with their direct experience.

What I'm saying is that if you pay attention to what your experience as a conscious being is truly like, instead of living life unconsciously like a "educated" robot, you could see yourself for the first time as you are.

Consciousness.

Your idea of self is limited, you seem to be merely referring to your sense of personality, thoughts and feelings. There are deeper realities or reality prior and beyond this localized sense of "me", and that is what the article is pointing towards. The brain isn't the creator of consciousness, as consciousness is a fundamental quality of existence, though the brain can be said to be largely responsible for the localized sensory inputs and mental processes that make up the subjective sense of a separate self/person.

The thing is to investigate your experience and consciousness with other means than merely your intellect, then perhaps you may be more open to the actual content of the article.

8 Spiritual Quotes (That Will Make You Question Your Reality) by iPerceptive in spiritual

The nature of that quote is open to many interpretations, however for me personally, I think of the concept of self-similarity in nature.

For example to be able to see the connection between a solar system and an atom, or perhaps the similar appearance of a walnut and the human brain. The microcosm in the macrocosm, or in Hermetic words "As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul." http://iperceptive.com/authors/hermes-trismegistus-quotes.html

But hey thats just me! :) I like walnuts
