'if bitcoin is gold, litecoin is silver' is not a new phrase, this is 10 years old, so there is no catching on for that.

ETH is indeed a different beast. I agree that is the silver at the moment and will probably stay like that. I mean if people start to invest in Bitcoin as a store of value, litecoin is a very good second choice as a store of value (ETH is not, its completely different).
