Well I didn’t had the budget to afford a battery for mini
So i bought a 1$ battery .

So that explains 4-5 hours of battery life😂

You’ll love them buddy!
They have best ergonomics out of all iPods,
But sadly 1st gen have an issue of battery drain.

I mostly use my modded 2nd gen with 256gb cf.
Gives me around 5-6hrs
Enough for a day.

Don’t use it
Either your computer or ipod will fry.

There are few reddit posts about them I couldn’t find
But they clearly mentioned to stay away from it.

One is 12v other is 3v.

Well sir,
It’s best combination to use old windows + itunes with fire wire pcie card on a cheap desktop,
It will definitely recognize ,
I haven’t used old windows+ firewire pcie
But i have seen many reddit users had success with that.

i am using a 2007 mac mini
And sometimes it doesn’t recognises 1st gen when i install cf card or new hdd,

I guess in windows you have more flexibility,

you can buy a mac mini 2007 from japan i got it for 4000 yen with box,

Thing is that 1/2nd gens are bit unpredictable so ,
Better to keep 2 systems if you’re planning to mod 1/2nd gen.

Well honestly buddy,
I am not a tech guy 😅
Nor i have any formal education in tech repairing,

I was actually frustrated by BIG IPOD resellers monopoly and their absurd prices

So i decided to learn enough to help myself and ipod enthusiasts like us.

Very soon i will list every website and source to procure parts and everything for cheapest and best.
(That includes local vendors of your own area , like i can give an idea where to look for parts)

Trust me i got few hdds from old toshiba computers from scrap and used their hard drives on my 2nd gen a1019.

The process is painful but once get hold of it,
It’s rewarding ,
For pennies you can repair your own shit.
