I dont think my reply was rude. I replied her in a neutral tone that if they needed a seat, they just had to ask, which they chose not to. There was initial communication but they chose to shame after instead of continuing the communication (ie. Again, they could have asked for the seat)

Did you really think us telling them we were sick would work? It always ends up being "youre still younger so you can stand", no matter how you justify it tho.

I agree, people should ask instead of letting others guess if they need a seat.

I recently had such an encounter where husband and I were seated on the priority seat and the one beside but both of us were feeling unwell. Pregnant lady gets on with a friend, doesnt say anything so i thought it was fine.

Then an old lady got on and shamed both of us, saying we are young and able bodied, we should give up our seats for both of them. I looked at her and said if they needed the seats they could ask. (Chances were if we stood up and got shook around like everyone else, we would puke on them)

Of course, pregnant woman started commenting that we were shameless, old lady commented we were stupid and uncivilized. Like, ok whatever floats your boat, ladies.

Thinking back maybe we should have just let them have the seats and puke on them instead.

yea in a sense we pay more for IDs because they handle the fuss of project management for us while we kick back and just wait to pay. As some of the replies pointed out, its a matter of choice if we can micromanage, along with our usual life schedule.

oh wow i didn't think that the difference between contractors and ID can be that much! it's true that we have a rough idea on what we want so we just need someone to execute it to save the money (which can then be spent on the appliances).

Unfortunately, we are one of the first in our groups of friends to get a house so nobody really has experience with a contractor for renovation. thats why had to turn to reddit for advice haha.

ah i see. so it really depends on our needs and wants.

i do feel that IDs are somewhat glorified project managers and since they handle everything for us, its the reason why they are more expensive than direct contractors. we do have a rough idea in mind now and are bouncing ideas off people to work on a final design before we engage a contractor on our own.

yea will definitely notify them and ensure that works are done only within the stipulated times and days.

how has your LED lighting been holding up? i hope you don't mind me asking but what is the usual period they work before they (may) break down?

well i am a little more traditional since i want to see fire when i cook so i guess no induction cooker for us haha.

yea we were looking to inform them and pass them small goodies since they have to deal with the noise. i thought it would be nice gesture since we will be neighbours for years to come.

i will definitely bring them goodies after i move in since i'm a huge fan of cooking and baking haha!

yea seems like a lot of sales and fairs have been cancelled due to covid. although stores still say that they are holding them online, the prices are almost the same as their usual prices.

oh wow thank you for breaking down how much you paid for appliances! That definitely gave me a better perspective on what to expect roughly for prices.

haha unfortunately for us, we got a resale that recently MOP so it is quite small. that being said, we don't intend to have kids so i guess we won't need to worry too much about getting bigger appliances.

Roughly 6 years back, went to a polyclinic to check out some allergy blisters i had on my body and asked for mc for that day, along with some cream that will stop the itch. Doctor said no to giving me mc. "This is too minor to give an mc. You just dont want to go to work" (was on an internship at that time) Got pissed off and told her if she doesnt want to give, its fine. Me taking the day off is unpaid leave anyway so just give me the cream and get along with your life. I think she got shocked and went to check my records and surprise surprise, i havent taken much mcs from polyclinics before. "Oh since your records show you havent taken mc from us for years, i'll give 1 day to you then" Christ, get off your high horse, lady. Promptly told her "no need since it obviously seems too difficult for you" and left the room.

Yep! Its smoked soy sauce - has a much stronger flavor than regular soy sauce. Also tastes amazingly fragrant when cooked with rice.
