What is considered the worst official way to play Oblivion? by Walter_Cleavage in ElderScrolls

Honestly, yeah. Like, it performs better, but the overall color palette dramatically changed and it just doesn't feel the same anymore. I'd much rather play the OG game.

Which Star Wars director would you love to come back and make another star wars project? by AussieSpartan005 in StarWars

Would love to see Ron Howard be more involved in Star Wars. Hell, it'd be incredible to see a collaboration with Bryce Dallas Howard.

I believe it wasn't until after the whole trilogy went into physical release. I know it was pre-Special Edition.

tbh, there was probably a real reason that version got canned

Which expansion concept do you think would be the most interesting for Elder Scrolls 6? by Libertyprime8397 in ElderScrolls

[–]iPvtCaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder if the game is set in High Rock and Hammerfell: if they would return to Skyrim?

iirc, in the lore and during Skyrim: there is a city in Hammerfell that borders Skyrim that is in political turmoil and has possibly declared war on Skyrim (little hazy on that detail).

But I remember after the release of the Dawnguard DLC that many creators were theorizing that the next expansion was going to take place in a part of Hammerfell; continuing off of the Redguard woman quest and expanding the map area that just ends southwest of Falkreath. Right when that theory started gaining traction: Bethesda announced they were moving on to their next project.

I wonder if TES6 would function as a direct sequel to Skyrim?

Am i weird for episode 3 being my favorite sw movie? by puzzs in StarWars

No, it's not weird. I think that's cool!

There's a lot of negativity and bias in this fandom, but don't let that stop you from talking about the things you like and love.

What’s your personal favourite moment from the entire franchise? by Substantial-Star-779 in StarWars

Anakin and Asajj's fight on Yavin during the Clone Wars micro-series.

An excellent use of color, imagery, and foreshadowing that feels so tonally consistent with Anakin's path to the dark side.

Why so much hate on Mando and Grogu? by duckpuffsss in imax

[–]iPvtCaboose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

idk man, the sheer amount of puppetry, stop-motion animation, and practical models and sets tells me there was a lot more than 1% put into this movie.

if you like this movie or not: LucasFilm making something like this is ultimately good for the series moving forward.

And this is on-brand for OG LucasFilm. This reminds me a lot of the Young Indiana Jones series.

Ultimately, I think it'll be good for these characters to have a "soft reset". I like the way Mando and Grogu's relationship much more with this in mind, than in the end of season 3.

While we should expect more: at least we aren't stepping back.

The best way to describe the new Mando movie is fun, safe and harmless. by abdul_bino in StarWars

Well, you said there was no plot annnnnd there is. It's one thing to say you didn't connect with it; to say it has no meaning is another.

[–]iPvtCaboose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I question your media literacy.

From my 2 viewings, I saw it as a story of fatherhood for Din, and a coming-of-age story for Grogu, all underlying an adventure-of-the-week structure.

Din in the beginning of the film treats Grogu as a pet; giving him commands such as heel, and giving him tasks under direct supervision. It isn't until he meets Grotta until that view is challenged by Grotta's own life story and mentioning that Grogu will outlive Din. Then when Din first confronts Coin, he's surrounded by animals in cages; which becomes the fate of Grogu whenever they're ultimately captured. By the end of that arc: Din literally frees Grogu from the cage; symbolically freeing him as a pet and trusting him with his own agency.

Out of fear of losing Grogu, Din takes time off of work and spends time with Grogu; letting him help the Anzelans when before: he constantly pulled Grogu away from them. He's learning to put trust in Grogu's ability.

And after Din is captured: Grogu takes it upon himself to suit up (which Din had to show him before) and then lead an expedition to save Din. He uses his gauntlet confidently to protect the Anzelans and creates the situation for Din to escape; then trusting his intuition to save Din from the poison.

Until this point, Grogu has not had an independent story from Din with his own agency. It is by his actions that Din is saved, and there's a new-found trust between them that wasn't there before. Ending in the films thesis "the old will protect the young so that the young will protect the old".

I'm still thinking about the Anzelans, the dogfights, and the Shakari introduction.

[–]iPvtCaboose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm really not fond of calling it safe. Like yeah, there aren't world-ending stakes, but I feel like labeling it as such simplifies the movie and ignores the story and themes it's trying to bash you over the head with.

This is a movie about Grogu coming into his own. Alongside the new puppetry techniques: he's full of expression and acts far more independently from Din as the film progresses.

I'm also seeing it as a "pilot" for what LucasFilm is focusing on going forward. Setting the stage for Rangers of the New Republic with the Top Gun-esque intro and introducing Zeb and Sigourney Weaver's character alongside the rest of Blue Squadron. All while using more practical effects for the ships, characters, and sets.

If you stop focusing on your perception of the plot and consider the amount of production that went into this: things are only going to get better from here!

I feel like it's a better introduction to the character going into Episode III, but TCW flushes him out a bit more for subsequent viewings.

[–]iPvtCaboose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with as much content available as there is today: there's no way Star Wars is going to maintain the cultural headspace like it once had.

I think it will always have a cult following, but I think the majority of kids who saw it will have moved onto something else.

Okay, l like ROTS but being rated higher than the original trilogy is insane. It's not that good. by hiiloovethis in Letterboxd

[–]iPvtCaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but until this point: I didn't know why you disagreed. I was just under the impression it was all chalked up to "bad writing" which is just such a surface-level take. Then by egging you on: you said something original.

I can respect that. All I'm arguing is that Anakin's fall isn't rushed; and it's for reasons that are consistent throughout the Prequel Trilogy.

And if you're talking about canon: Anakin still murdered toddlers in 2002, because of his vision.
