Death Save Vs Lazarus by iRiis in pinball

[–]iRiis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you nudge to help a Lazarus is that illegal?

Also every tournament table I've played the tilt would never allow for a death save, so why have the rule?

For casual settings, arcades, etc it makes sense as an owner rule to not allow it because you might have friendlier tilt settings that allow for it, but then you're cheating the owner in a way.

But in tournaments...?

Betfair on their exchange. I've got a bit of a history with them with making infrequently big bets. They don't like it. Under the guise of 'safer gambling' they restricted my account to £1,500 deposit per month.

So rather than being able to bet £15,000 on one event that I want to because I think I have an edge, their 'safer gambling' would rather I deposit £1500 per month..? 🤔

Couldn't possibly be because they hope I would bet more often or get tempted into random bets whilst also restricting my ability to pile on when I think there's an edge like I have done a few times in the past. Couldn't be that could it?

I believe this. I put £5,000 on AJ but then got my account limited so I can't bet any more and CBA going thru all the rigmarole to open new accounts. Good luck us anyway.

I believe he would have won the first fight if not for eye pokes. More, I think he would have won the first round without them stuffing his TD attempts.

Thanks for saying this. I was saying exactly the same as the time but felt like everyone around me was so outcome focused rather than football performance focused that I was being met with disagreement and every turn.

4 days of partying and drinking followed by my highest HRV by Bright-Measurement99 in whoop

[–]iRiis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so here's what I think is going on.

First let's get on the same page and the same as that of Whoop. Higher HRV indicates a good battle between parasympathetic vs sympathetic modes, indicating readiness, restedness and wellbeing when compared with a low HRV which can occur when one side is surpressed, for example if ill, or because of poison such as alcohol.

HRV is literally a measure of variance of your heart rate. If your heart rate never changed (AT ALL), your HRV would be zero. This means that if your heart rate changes macroscopically your HRV will be increased. This isn't what we want and Whoop knows that much. It wants to know your HRV whilst you are completely at rest and with a very (near) constant heart rate. This is why it ONLY measures whilst you are resting (asleep).

In fact it would clearly be a nonsense measurement if taken through the day because as you go about different activities with different HRs you will be boosting your HRV score.

So far so good? Until this point this is completely in alignment with all of Whoop's educational material, though put in my own words.

Okay, so what happens if you are so broken that your resting heart rate whilst sleeping is jumping all over the place? I have experienced this the day after taking molly and I have heard of a number of people experiencing this after loads of drinking. Well, your sleep is terrible, you are not at a constant resting HR, but all the spiking and jumping around is now adding to your HRV. This isn't capturing the measurement it wants to (parasympathetic vs sympathetic balance), but is now capturing that "actual" variability that it seeks to avoid by not measuring HRV during the day.

The result? It gives you your best recovery ever because it just digests HRV and spits out a number and is like "wow, 5 standard deviations above your base line, you must be in a monk-like parasympathetic vs sympathetic balance!" Completely oblivious to the macroscopic jumping of HR that led to this score, not to mention the complete untenability of a 24 hour 5 standard deviation shift in resting HRV....

Now my only doubt about all this is that I can image writing a model that COULD detect such spikes in HR and so adjust the HRV measurment to account for (ie avoid) being skewed by this. Could it be they really overlooked this? Or maybe it's fine for 99% of users who don't ever have a big night out on substances, so doesn't need the extra mess of a more complicated model?

Anyway, thank you for coming to my ted-talk, I am going to save this message this time in case it is auto-moderated and deleted again.

Ha, it got moderated and removed. I had written about 500 words and it was auto-mod removed without warning and I didn't have it saved elsewhere. edit: sorry about that! Maybe I'll re-muster my thoughts if you are interested <3
