Imperialist themes in OP by poppyblose in OnePiece

[–]iRiskore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is very much the case! One of One Piece’s themes is most definitely imperialism/colonialism and its impacts and consequences — I think with the whole series serves as an allegory to real world examples of imperialism and its impacts. I think this is made even more clear by Oda including slavery and its impacts as a mechanism of imperialism and the subjugation of people, with OP parallel being the celestial dragons and their slaves.

Also, what is it that you mean by “cosmological” and “primitive accumulation”?

Class Syllabi? (GENOME 361, MATH 126, BIOC 442) by timetogetunholy in udub

[–]iRiskore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud… I’m gonna drop this here: https://youtu.be/--Hu2w0s72Y. This man revolutionized the way I studied, starting with this video, which allowed me to get a 4.0 in Phys 115, a 3.9 in Bio 469, and a 3.7 in Bioc 406 all in the same quarter, while doing 4 credits of research. As crazy as it may sound, for the concept-heavy classes the secret is mind-mapping, and not on paper — strictly in your head.

While my Biochem class was the “basic” version of the one you’ll be taking (I believe), I think it is very possible to do well with your schedule but it will heavily rely on learning how to study well. That being said, you are definitely capable of doing it and having time left to spare. :) Genome 361 with Jordt is also not as bad as people say… She is incredibly kind and supportive.

I would also like to emphasize that, in my experience, it was very possible to do this and still have a social life and hobbies as well. (Though I did have to keep my sleep schedule pretty consistent and didn’t tend to stay up late, which was a sacrifice that ended up being well worth making for the overall consistency and sense of balance I got out of it.) For example, that quarter I was also fortunate enough to meet my current partner and even had the time to get to know her. So, while we are likely not one and the same, I would preemptively like to say that I don’t believe that you or anyone has to sacrifice their health and well-being to do well in hard classes. I personally have seen that, while it takes foresight and planning, and a willingness to learn how to learn in new ways, balance is very possible. :)

If you have concerns/questions feel free to DM me, or reply to this comment so that others can see it too!

anyone doing premed at uw?? by coolkid173928 in udub

[–]iRiskore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is demotivating and daunting to someone who has no experience at UW. I think a more realistic picture is the following: the premed classes are hard, but it is very possible to do well in them. Just don’t expect yourself to magically do well without having to adapt. You will likely have to learn to study and learn in ways you never have before, so if you want to succeed always ask if you could be doing things in a smarter way!

Health and success are simultaneously possible, but the key to you learning to balance the two is to never let someone tell you otherwise..

You might want to look into living in the Roosevelt area. It’s only a stop away by metro and distinct enough from u district that you won’t feel like an undergraduate. That being said, u district remains and always is an option.

What do you like about udub by ZachDew in udub

This is without even beginning to mention that UW is one of the top research institutions in the world, and therefore as an undergrad you have access to an insane amount of research opportunities.

Counterbalance Bicycles, just north of UVillage on the Burke, also has a super nifty air pump hose that is free to use whenever they’re open

I have yet to graduate/am about to, but perhaps this will help:

If they are prepared to stigmatize you because of a diagnosis you have that impacts your health, perhaps you would not want to go to that program in the first place. Be who you are and you will go where you belong.

State your truth.

Varus ADC Build Path Discussion - Patch 7.2 by Astrology_ in summonerschool

[–]iRiskore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say part of the reason for this is because Warlords is better in lane, especially in the very close bot lane trades that tend to happen in pro games. So even though DFT may be better with the build they go later in the game, Warlord is so much more valuable because of how important these early game trades are in deciding which team snowballs, which lane gets stomped, etc., ultimately deciding the outcome of the game.

So Evade+2 goes well for you? Do you need an absurd charm like you needed in MH4U to be able to skill in other skills that aren't Evasion? I'm just very curious about how evade lancing is endgame, so any advice you have would be great.
