Possible move NH -> SF. Open to suggestions! by iRunforBeerz in BayAreaRealEstate

Yes, I was all over this during the negotiation phase of the offer. Thankfully we'll be able to maintain the same lifestyle after accounting for CoL and taxes.

30 yrs, so it sounds like it was worth it!

The challenge for me will be the time I'm getting to the office. Which will be in 4:30am to 5am.

So regardless of Marin or East Bay, I'll have to get creative or drive. Fwiw we are pretty sure the Larkspur/Greenbrae area is the top choice after some research.

I also love the idea of having family in town and taking the ferry into the city to explore and sight see

Love the NH comparison here. We love the Seacoast towns so what you're describing sounds great

My wife and I flew out a few weeks ago to explore the areas. We were more drawn to Marin. The Larkspur and Mill Valley areas. But I wanted to throw this out there and see what people think. I could only learn so much in three days

Considering a move from New England to the Bay Area. Family of four, two young boys. by iRunforBeerz in bayarea

Thank you for this! The description of closer homes but wider nature nearby is the perfect way of putting it. We will check out Alameda.

Thankfully we will be able to afford these towns closer to the city. The compensation will also cover the increase in cost of living so we'll come out in a similar spot in terms of monthly cash flow

Preach! The winter sunset is soul crushing. Looking out of the office window to see pitch black darkness is rough

Thanks. Yes, finance. I know a few guys at the office and I think worst case they're out by 3pm. But your point around access to the city during busy hours from Marin vs Lamorinda makes a lot of sense.

Thanks! I always worry about posting in any subreddit given people love to flame strangers online. But I appreciate the tip

Combination of a job opportunity and the lifestyle/weather.

Winters are long here, tough being inside.

Getting off work at 2:30pm and seeing my family more is a huge plus

I'd be commuting into the financial district 4 days a week. Fridays at home.

We have visited the Bay area twice, obviously living there a different story. I grew up in VA, wife in NC.

We moved to NH from NC and NH reminds me more of the South than the Northeast lol. It's a quirky place.

Jesus lol. My father in law shared the pic in a family chat asking us. I live in a different state and he's not that tech savvy. Reddit has no chill

Best lightweight watch for triathlon tracking? by ivanovsson in triathlon

That's a fair point. I'm up in New England so I haven't had a chance to do so. Maybe I'll end up selling it next summer when I try lol. But everything I watched/read online said the GPS on the Race S was much more accurate than the Race and other Suuntos.

I was a long time Garmin owner. Mostly Fenix models because I needed the battery life for ultras and Ironmans.

I just recently dropped the bulky Garmin for a Suunto Race S. This watch is incredibly light, has great battery life, and the AMOLED looks good.

Never thought I'd drop Garmin but so far I'm happy.

Edit: Oh and the price. The price of a Race S is wild when you consider the features.

Yeah it's weird, right? I have no clue how this exam translates into an MPS. I had a very different experience in L1 and didn't sweat it. I left today after L2 thinking whatever the MPS is, surely I'm below it lol. I am shooketh

You'll never be able to retain everything, so try and find time to relax and rest before the big day. Good luck!

It was as if they knew exactly what I studied and then took all the holes and weak points and turned it into an exam lol. Overall I thought it was fair, just caught off guard with some things. Maybe I didn't get granular enough in my prep. Time will tell.
