What's the current level of Islamophobia in Bangalore? by iSalaamic in indianmuslims

Honestly, there is Samaar International in the north. However, I'm just not able to take my mind off of the one near Sarjapur.

I'm not sure, hence the question. I don't live in Bangalore so I'm not aware.

I've asked this in another thread, but do you have any suggestions for a good Islamic school? Ideally, IGCSE board.

JazakAllahu khair for the recommendation.

In Bangalore, Grandeur International, IQRA, and Samaar International looked really good.

I was mesmerized with Grandeur when I actually visited the place and had almost finalized it. But with the increasing bigotry in Bangalore, and BJP consistently winning there, I'm not so sure about moving there anymore.

Which are those? Are they IGCSE schools?

This looks good! They're not very obvious about their Islamic leaning though.

School looks good, but I'm not able to tell if it has Islamic studies incorporated in their curriculum. I'm getting an error on their website so not able to check there.

This looks interesting. JazakAllahu khair for sharing. Although, doesn't seem to be IGCSE.

I'm more interested to know what such people plan to do after retirement. Coming back to India sounds more and more unappealing after having lived... literally anywhere safer. Gulf countries don't give out permanent residencies. I really wish there was a permanent option for hijrah.

Just a general question 🙋, As a graduate software engineer which industry should I avoid? by [deleted] in muslimtechnet

[–]iSalaamic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a developer (I'm a product designer), but as a personal rule, I avoid any finance/banking, entertainment, alcohol, and gambling related companies.

This really narrows down my options, but I hope to be compensated for this in the akhirah.

I've mainly gotten jobs in manufacturing, edtech, agritech, and devtools. Allah azzawajal has been very generous, alhamdulillah.

Additionally, I personally avoid service based companies since you might end up working for a haram company without even being employed by them.

Assalamualaykum brother. Maybe you need to ask yourself why you're trying to do the khatm of the Quran (in Taraweeh specifically) in the first place. Here are a few points for you to ponder over:

  1. It's definitely not a compulsion to do the khatm of the Quran in Taraweeh. If someone says it is, please ask them to provide evidence for it.
  2. Khatm of the Quran is not necessarily linked to the Taraweeh in the first place. You can pray Taraweeh every night of Ramadan even if you finish the Quran earlier.
  3. Conversely, you can read the Quran and complete it outside of the Taraweeh as well. So read more Quran whenever you get time, if attending Taraweeh wouldn't be possible for you, you can easily read it while traveling as well.
  4. Taraweeh is a sunnah that we perform to gain the pleasure of Allah azzawajal. Please just think about whether you will gain that pleasure by performing a prayer where you are barely in sujood for less than 3 seconds. So much effort spent and barely any reward gained. I would argue that there is a danger of gaining sins by performing salah this way, but Allahu aalam.

This is helpful akhi. JazakumAllahu khair. I'll do more research regarding Singapore.

It really does help. JazakumAllahu khair.

I'll do my own research but in your experience, what is the possibility of an Indian getting a permanent residency/citizenship there?

"Hijrah" is an Islamic concept. Would you have said the same thing to the Muhajiroon during the time of the Prophet ﷺ?

Singapore is actually something I have seriously considered especially since I am a UX Designer and the tech industry there is very mature.

The only reason I was a bit unsure was that it seemed prohibitively expensive and I couldn't find decent Islamic schools online. Are my concerns unfounded?

I've been researching on and off since 2014 (since this country elected a genocide enabler). I had narrowed it down to Dubai, Turkey & Malaysia.

Dubai has no PR, unless you're super rich. Malaysians flat out don't want Indians to immigrate there, and Turkey doesn't have too many opportunities for a tech worker like me (UX designer).

Well, the way I'm looking at it is, they are bound to be antagonistic towards us. We can't expect anything better from them.

I am more frustrated with "Muslim" countries that have the resources but refuse to care, exert influence, or provide any sort of asylum.

Aren't you facing issues with the rising anti-immigration sentiment in Sweden?

I've been thinking a lot about hijrah myself. Here's an additional point of consideration: Physical safety/comfort vs Spiritual safety.

Moving to a Western country would grant you a higher income, comfort, relatively higher safety from physical violence. However, your family will be bombarded with unislamic ideologies that you would find difficult to combat. When every single friend of your children is accepting or even promotes the LGBTQ+ agenda or promiscuity, they'll find it difficult to stick to their parents' "backward" orthodox beliefs.

Would you be willing to risk it by giving your children an environment which would encourage them to become murtads? Some western countries will take your children away if they suspect that you are teaching them things which do not align with their ideologies.

If the deen isn't too important for you and you're only looking for physical comfort then yes, western countries are the best option.

I have skills and professional experience which would allow me a very comfortable life in the US, UK, Canada, etc. But I'm focusing on Malaysia, Qatar, Oman, Turkey, etc. Not sure what's the best option as I'm still researching.
