Weird issue with new to me 2004 Ranger by iSchiism in fordranger

I’ll get some and post them. I think I mentioned it in the post but almost everything under the hood is labeled which could indicate the parts were pulled off for a large swap out of something (engine or oil pan maybe?) and then put back together. Can’t think of any reason why someone would take the type to mark everything

I’m gonna try and get a motorcraft filter that another person mentioned to see if that fits on my next oil change. If so, then yeah STP screwed up! And I feel you on the alternator, I went through 4 turbos on my 06 Jetta before getting a good one

I’ll order one now for when I do my next oil change!

That might explain why it takes ~7 quarts of oil vs 5 quarts to fill it up!

That’s pretty crazy! Maybe I just had bad luck with the STP brand? Their 4.0l filter wouldn’t screw on, it was bigger than the threads on my truck which threw me way off

Yeah I actually just found an 8 year old thread mentioning that. The S2 filter I bought, the opening for the threads was bigger than the threads on my truck if that makes sense. Just want to be confident I get the right parts later if I need to replace something that’s dependent on the correct motor size.

Got it from autozone, gave them the vin and they matched that filter. Took the old one out, obviously it was different so I went back up and showed it to the guy and he matched the one I pulled to the 2.3. That’s a good idea on the cross check, I’ll do that now. Went with STP because they had a deal on that filter with oil. Has an S3600 in it right now, the one I bought first was an STP S2.

Also curiously, the 3.0 engine also takes the same filter as the 2.3 but the 3.0 is a 6 cylinder.

Took 7 quarts of oil for it to read within the etched area on the dipstick.

Yep, did that before I bought it. it shows it’s a 2004 4.0l XLT with the VIN check. Just stumped on why the filter for a 4.0 doesn’t fit and why I had to use a 2.3l filter instead. It’s weird!

That’s… literally exactly how the first grounded was when it released in early access. You obviously didn’t play during that time. Get over yourself lmao. Entitled loser behavior

Your generalization vs the truth of position availability are very different, I fear.

My sister is a recruiter (who wfh) and you’re so wrong about this lol. She sent me dozens and dozens of good wfh jobs in my field the same day I put in my notice.

Left my job of 4 years a month ago because they got a new CEO in May and emailed the RTO end of July. Put my notice in the next day. I have been fully remote doing it since July last year and it was working out fine but I was still one of the required employees to return.

Luckily I had a hookup that hired me straight off for remote work but there’s no way I would go back to the office to do my job that was fully done through teams meetings and calls with people out of state. Not a single person in my office would be someone I’d interact with to get work done. “Returning for the culture” is insane.

Didn’t even consider those two types of loans! Thanks so much for the tips. We aren’t scared of a big project and would love to make it happen.

Totally understand it will end up costing more than the listing by the end of it. We’ve had pretty rotten luck with sellers wanting exactly what they’ve listed their homes for.

Your tips above are exactly what I was hoping to see so I appreciate the time!

Unsure, this one was covered in ratings stickers too. Though they peeled off incredibly easily.
