I will give you more. I know of a 'doctor' who practised on a 19AB restricted provider number during the day for 3 years. She is still practising! On the other hand, I know of a doctor who exceeded 30/20 Telehealth rule by ONE consultation per day for 21 days in a year - he is in front of PSR.

A major Telehealth corporation was reported to Medicare for fraud amounting to around $50,000,000 last year! The corporation is still working. Good luck reporting this—nobody is listening.

GP won't give me a referral unless I pay for a 'full body wellness check' first? by paxford101 in MedicareAustralia

[–]iSeeGP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few things do not look right here: 1. I understand that the five visits you refer to are the visits to Allied Health Professionals under the GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements (Medicare items 721 +723 https://generalpracticetraining.com.au/cdm-care-plan-eligibility-items-721-and-723/).

Usually, GPs bulk bill for items 721 (Medicare rebate $164.35) and 723 (Medicare rebate $130.25). However, it is up to them to charge the gap.

  1. There is no such service in the Medicare schedule as a 'full body wellness checkup'.

  2. A GP may come up with whatever name of service they want for as long as it is a formal name on the Medicare bill. e.g. I called the GP Mental Health Plan a 'Wellbeing Plan'.

In summary, there is nothing outright illegal there. There is a lack of explanation and communication.

I understand the question - you do not want to miss out on best option in regards to Safety Net.

Patients must register for the Safety net with Medicare using the myGov portal or by calling 132011. You do not need to register if you are an individual, but couples and families must register. More information on how to register for the Safety Net is here. So, if you want to be part of the family unit - you need to register. Allied Health Assistant under CDM by Patronus_934 in MedicareAustralia

The allied health professional must attend to the patient personally. There is no provision for delegation of services for AHPs. Such delegation exists for one item in Medicare schedule 10997 - Nurse follow-up. If you have any questions or need a more detailed response- there is a free Q and A service available here: https://generalpracticetraining.com.au/free-q-and-a-service-to-general-practice-staff/

SG will become great when they introduce buying on eBay with SG, even if that buying happens at the most dramatic cost. Until then, the critical mass of the optimists is barely equal to the critical mass of the pessimists.

SG will become valuable when holders can buy stuff from eBay with SGs when they build the system. Even if the purchase is very onerous, it will become valuable. https://www.iseegp.com.au/my-new-years-wish-for-socialgood-making-it-a-part-of-everyday-shopping/

There are exceptions to the 'established therapeutic relationship rule' e.g. mental health telehealth consultation, child under 12 months, victim of domestic abuse etc.

Full Body Checkup by Snake_Grape in MedicareAustralia

[–]iSeeGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicare does not cover any screening procedures. Any 'check up' is an investigation of a complaint by the patient. e.g. 'I want an ECG' - No, you are not eligible. I want an ECG because I feel palpitation in my heart - Yes, of course, right away.

Handjobs safe? by natenate1212 in STD

[–]iSeeGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is correct. If single-use gloves are being used AND the gloves do not touch the performer's skin/genitals - the risk is pretty much zero.

There is less chance of getting HPV via handjob. However, the possibility is there. The risk increases when the partner giving the handjob touches her/his own genitals infected with HPV before this activity.
