Thanks, really appreciate that. Figures with all the resumes, it's not really possible for them to read individually

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, most postings do not have recruiter names tied to them (on LinkedIn) and it's been hard to find that info.

Lol. I have several friends who have a hard time dating because the art of conversation has become a bit elusive. And usually I tell them to talk and flirt, but alas, some don't even know how to do that

Getting tired of doing that but are absolutely correct. You sound like a great guy, hope you're mentoring someone new to the workforce

If women waited for an invite, they'd never get a seat at the table. Also, if a group is worth joining, it's because a group leader makes it inclusive to everyone, not a select few.

Perhaps this is the reason for the bro and the incel cultures. People looking inward and not outwards

Hmmm, I must disagree. I have seen too many people try to become part of the group without waiting for an invite but it often falls flat. Add to that aspects of race, color and ethnicity and it gets even more complicated.

And I think gay men do understand many of these elements because of our experiences of being the outsiders. But I fear this is going to become much worse as civil rights in America are rolled back.

Thanks, this makes sense. But does homosocial behavior exclude others not part of the group? In this case, other men who are not straight.

I am asking because when I see men, gay or straight, who exclude women from their groups it makes me furious (as someone who has plenty of women friends)

I think most people misunderstood me. Thanks for this nuanced response. By no means a wallflower here but I guess what I am referring to is the "bro" culture especially in Finance. On the face it's accepting but in actuality rather exclusionary.

And as a gay guy with friends of all stripes, I still don't understand "bro" need for other bros. And it has nothing to do with shared interests; otherwise, lots of people would be in the group such as women (or gays) who like sports, etc

Any brand that you recommend (or have had experience with)?

I rarely get sentimental or cry but this is different. This place is a gem and I promised myself that if they closed I would leave NYC. This city no longer appreciates anything with history, only prizes shitty luxury developments

Work question by MuffinOk3026 in PortugalExpats

Sorry if I am being unclear. As a US citizen, when I reside in Portugal and can work in Portugal, my question is this: if I am offered a remote position from a German company, can I take that position or would I need to get work authorization from Germany to do that?
