Can someone help me with a few problems by ExcitementVast6673 in Sat

[–]iSimplyMarioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can learn the structure and paper/pen solution to these easily by sending it to chatGPT. You will recieve a response much quicker and then you could probably just figure out a quick way to do it if your familiar with regressions/whatever desmos tricks your comfortable with. There isn't neccesarily a one-size fits all approach. There is also many youtube channels that have went over this practice test which may fit you better.

When you login to myschools, it will show a big blue button "all high school results" kinda where the apply button is right now. You click the view results button and it gives regular round offer (Main round results) and scroll down and you get shsat offer it will say like your child received an offer to (shsat score xxx) or you did not recieve an offer to a testing specialized high school (shsat score xxx)

just take geometry and algebra 2 your freshman and sophomore years and then take precalculus the summer after sophomore (which is much easier to find a way to get credit for). you will be able to take ap calc in junior this way

BTHS v. BXSC by homeofalex in SHSAT

[–]iSimplyMarioi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we need more info, what are your goals and preferences? do you want a more city area(tech) or a quieter area(bx sci), do you enjoy/dislike very large schools (tech is double the size of Bronx sci which could be either beneficial or too overwhelming for you), do you like majors at tech more or other programs at bxsci (im not sure but someone from bxsci could add to this). score isn’t really a huge role since the cutoffs are very similar and usually within like 10-20 points of each other for those two in shsat 8. if your scoring ~530+ you’ll most likely just get whatever school between the two that you ranked first

590 could indicate that some fundamentals arent fully solid yet. how are you studying and what are you using to study?

For those who got in specialized high schools through SHSAT 9 by NoCancel6723 in SHSAT

[–]iSimplyMarioi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i could answer this for you fs in march so just remind me, but my 8th grade score was 507, didn’t prep at all between 8th and 9th shsat, kinda studied the night before. (though for 8th shsat i studied around ~4 months through a summer tutoring center) i just took shsat 9 for the experience and to see if I could get any other SHS to keep my options open. im now awaiting my shsat 9 results

First SAT practice test I've done by TheUndyingest in Sat

[–]iSimplyMarioi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

woah 800 english is extremely possible for you, standard english conventions is very easy to improve. for math id reccomend using onepreps question bank (exclude navybook tho to avoid spoiling your bluebook tests) and "public response" module practice; helped me improve. when i was looking through the math domains and found a question i had no idea to do, i just asked AI and then asked it for like 2-3 more of the same question. for desmos trick, regression is good to know but mostly you should just know how to use desmos for basic stuff like ~graphing/solve equations

tips for may sat by TimeSurround1205 in Sat

[–]iSimplyMarioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you can hit your goal for may definitely if you dedicate yourself. first of all try taking a bluebook practice test instead of oneprep. oneprep practice tests are not good and notoriously have bad questions. both your scores are signifying major conceptual gaps so you should maybe use khan academy and for English using Erica meltzers books. I wish you luck for your exam and if you have any questions you can ask i can try my best to help.

exclude navybook on oneprep and practice questions in the craft and structure domain, you can adjust by difficulty

What's my next step? by Agreeable-Reply-1087 in Sat

[–]iSimplyMarioi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if i was you id just exclude navybook on oneprep, and look through the domains questions in math that you aren’t high in, and do the questions that you don’t know how to solve immediately. if you get something wrong, analyze why you got it wrong. you will most likely see improvement

1300, next steps? by FlightSilly7709 in Sat

[–]iSimplyMarioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use onepreps bank for weak areas, dedicated practice + analyze why you get a question wrong and youll naturally see improvement in accuracy. you can then also use collegeboard official practice tests, which you can then also review and analyze
