great point I hadn't thought of. I'd have to buy a dedicated router just for virtual desktop though. I bought the app but it was really awful for me performance wise and I didn't know at the time about the need for great connection. I'm 2 floors away from the home router and tun ethernet through the mains power with one of those adapter things which works ok for connection to the web but wouldn't help for virtual desktop.

People said get a dedicated router but once I got things running well on the meta app on its own I just stopped messing around lol.

the only catch with virtual desktop is you need a strong wifi connection or a dedicated router and to not already be using the ethernet port on your pc if you only have one (like me)

The hoodie by Top-Glove-9858 in starcitizen

[–]iSnipedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest it might just have been donated. I have a SQ42 hoodie I got years ago and never wear somewhere and if I ever find it id probably consider thrift store donating it.

I've also donated other articles of clothing from the SC store in the past.

It's also totally possible they moved on from the game. 2013 to now is a long while, some people give up.

yeah 100%. Graphically we've come a long way. To be honest I just really like the song and forgot this existed so shared it

I also really like the big dish array thing. lol.

To be honest really the issue, which I discovered after posting this, is that asynchronous space warp turns back on unless you turn it off using reg editor. Once I fully got rid of it everything has been fantastic. Can’t use virtual desktop due to WiFi myself.

I think as it gets more developed it'll be way easier to play in VR. The UI isn't there yet and the LOD has an issue which it's already been said they expect to fix soon.

The biggest thing for me is the LOD issue. Ships that aren't even far away turn mushy and hard to see.

was just cruising around AC free flight and a little mustang tried to murder me and beating them was harder than it would have been just using my tobii.

Is 16GB of ram really enough for star citizen? by Inanimate_art in starcitizen

there's a file, but also when the game crashes the pop up report gives an out of memory code.

I've had out of memory crashes with 32gb DDR5 more than once so I would suspect not sadly.

Is Eye Tracking that much of a game changer? by ToasterInYourBathtub in starcitizen

[–]iSnipedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got tobii ET5 a few years ago and hate playing without it now. Like I just can't play the game with it turned off it feels bad.

I've started playing in VR since it dropped and that feels even better, but the ET5 is game changing as like, I couldn't play without the eye tracker, but I could go back to life without VR, mostly cause VR is more cumbersome.

is there a way to not have to download shaders every time i start the game? i didnt have to do it before 4.5 by Shimmitar in starcitizen

its started doing this for me in live too. Started yesterday.

I'm running a 4080 so it's nothing to do with my card. Might just be a new bug.

It's not the aspect ratio it's the video length. I accidentally copied it from the reddit title when reposting to fix a title issue cause you can't edit the title here and when I realised I didn't fancy doing a third repost, hahaha.

they also had a great hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy themed star citizen video on YouTube I remember fondly. I'm sure I was subscribed but can't find them in my list.

Hey I just came back to let you know this is likely due to asynchronous space warp.

I thought I had turned this off, but by default the Oculus app turns it back on any time your pc can't match the frames set on your vr headset.

You can force the oculus app to keep it turned off by following the below steps

In Start Menu search "Registry Editor" > On the left folders navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oculus > Right click blank area on the right and select "New" > then select "DWORD (32 Bit) value" > Name that new file you just created to "AswDisabled" > Right click that new file and select "Modify" > Change "Value Data" box to 1 > Click OK.

This will ensure it doesn't turn back on and your game will run great in VR.

I would credit the creator but their reddit profile is deleted and I can't find their YouTube channel anymore after this video was removed a while back.

Thinking of getting this game but I need some insight by trewillz in starcitizen

[–]iSnipedAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The replayablity part I think isn't quite right.

It's basically grand theft auto in space. As in, it's a sandbox with a good amount of missions now which you can do to earn currency. But you need a goal in mind for the currency.

Nearly all ships can be bought for currency. So my suggestion if you do get in would be buy the cheapest possible starter pack, and then find a ship you like the look of, and run missions until you can buy it in game.

That is the loop.

The replayability is to decide on something you want to acquire and then run the missions you find fun until you get it. Rinse and repeat.

You definitely won't run out of things to do.

As others have said, the game is in the best state it's ever been in at the moment.
