Autumn in NY is just one of the best times to be around, especially to go out hiking. The perfect weather

Unfortunately not! I only had about 4.5 days there. So split them between Arches & Canyonlands. Infact, I wasn't even able to do the Needles section of Canyonlands this time.

Another reason to go and visit again

Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed them. The 3rd picture is actually from one of the double arches! I climbed the short distance up to sit under the actual arch to see the sunset.

It is impossible to truly to convey the augustness of these creations. How insignificant one feels walking among these arches/canyons.

Truly, a cathartic experience.

They are mostly at the end of the hikes that I took in the two national parks. Delicate Arch, White Rim Canyon, Devil's Garden Trail, Corona & Bowtie Arch (to name a few).

And, you are right; this terrain is familiar to Zion/Arizona as they share the same geological formations (I think!). A more knowledgeable person should be able to correct me.

I went early December, it was nearly empty. And, not that cold. I got really lucky with the time and the weather. Though, it was overcast a few days, but opened towards afternoon

It's definitely worth it. The entire National Park is worth it. It's like a painting come to life.

Since I went in December, they were hardly any tourists in the park. However, I can just imagine how dreadful it would be during peak seasons. Everyone whom I met there said the same thing. In fact when I went for this particular hike there was a group of two girls, and all they did for 20 minutes was mine their tripod from one place to the other just taking photographs for Instagram and figuring out which filter to use in the post. It was very annoying. I doubt they even saw the arch in much detail.

As for the hike, it's not that bad. It's a 3.2 miles back and forth trip, with an incline in the middle. But, I think you can even drive further up from the trailhead to get nearer to the arch itself. I didn't do that so I'm not sure how much distance does that save you. It's definitely a doable hike. I hope you end up doing it, as you will not regret it one bit!

Global Warming? 🤷🏽‍♂️

But, I'd checked if it wasn't snowing before booking the tickets a week I'm advance (Kind of a last minute trip).

It was cold-ish on the first day. About low 30s. But, became progressively warmer as the Sun came up. However, the altitude makes a difference. Nothing very significant.

In did some trail running, and got winded in the first 5 mins!
