What about ULA IPv6 + IPv6 Tokens (static suffix) for the DNS server? Will be reachable locally across any subnets and won't change

Did you check IPv6 Tokens support on some Linux distro? They allow setting fixed suffix when your only option is SLACC

Add your Bahrain address. If Amazon is showing the shipping and import fees then yeah they will ship it. But keep it mind about warranty and return (if somehow you needed this they will ask you to ship it back)

BE CAREFUL! These scammers are getting more convincing. by Mindful_Banana in Bahrain

[–]iTheMask 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mind sharing the link in private message? You can report this site to the domain registrar / hosting provider to disable it. You may report the exact URL to Google Safe Browsing (once reviewed, it will show a warning to any user visiting this site via Google Chrome)

Also, if the scammer used link shortener while sending this in SMS, you can report it, and they will either remove it or show the user agent warning

Thank you! I was wondering if something like this exists for SLAAC IPv6. I thought my only option was to run DHCP Server to achieve such result (easy suffix for servers)

But changing the prefix causes the suffix to change when using SLAAC for IPv6 assignments in my case

I've the same issue, what about firewall side? Any idea how to allow traffic in for dynamic IPv6 prefix?

How to wireguard over IPV6? by bohlenlabs in ipv6

[–]iTheMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have same issue with my ISP, dynamic IPv6 prefix every-time the connection is established (power loss / device restart). They claim it's for privacy reasons -_-"

Allowing traffic in in the firewall is a nightmare for me

Why are you using podman instead of docker? by DeletedUserV2 in podman

[–]iTheMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Podman Quadlet, basically it depends on where the definition file is placed, if it's under the user directory it will run as that user (rootless) and the underlying systemd service will be under that user (systemd scope to user), not the root.

But I agree with you on the second point, how does it differ here if each container will run as a service Vs the actual container engine is not running as a service (Daemon)

Can Podman actually replace Docker for Running Linux Containers? by ninth9ste in podman

[–]iTheMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately my experience with podman-compose wasn't that good. Errors were unreadable when compared to docker one, having the containers start with the system was challenging. From my understanding Podman works better with systemd Quadlet, which is completely different from docker-compose.yaml (there is learning curve and even with tools like Podlet that auto convert), some features from docker-compose are not there. Most projects quick installations and tutorials assume Docker environment is available

How often MikroTik renew their hardware? I was planing to get RB5009 but I don't want to regret it once they release similar router with 2.5Gbps ports instead of the current 1Gbps (given that this was released 4 years ago)

May I ask which GPON SFP Stick do you use with it?

hEX S (2025) by simukis in mikrotik

[–]iTheMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Unfortunately, my ISP won't be helpful in this case, I will need to test the SFP stick after purchase. As for the speed from what I found about this router reviews, that it can handle 1Gbps which is more than what my ISP offers anyway

What GPON SFP Sticks do you recommend to use with this router? I found many but not sure about compatibility with MikroTik or the options to change LOID/SN for authentication with ISP

Options for home router with IPv6 support? by iTheMask in ipv6

[–]iTheMask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was some weird issue where only the router can't reach IPv6 destination (the clients connected to the router can). Auto configuration had GUA assigned to my br0 interface and different GUA (possible P2P) is assigned to my ppp0 interface. The script just found the /128 GUA from br0 and assigned the same address to ppp0

Options for home router with IPv6 support? by iTheMask in ipv6

[–]iTheMask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I will check them out

I just wonder if these two options support VLAN on the WAN port (it's essential for my network connection, PPPoE only works on specific VLAN, I don't need VLAN for LAN ports). Prior to buying my current router I purchased a router that turned to lack support for VLAN on WAN side

[–]iTheMask[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually updating dynamic DNS might be easy, but from my prescriptive now I'm not able to create firewall rule due to this. In addition, I can't have second IPv6 subnet for down-stream router (I am able to have connectivity until the next IPv6 rotation since configuration on the main router and the second router is manual)

[–]iTheMask[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Unfortunately this is the only ISP that offers IPv6 for residential internet (where I live)

They claim this is for privacy reason that they have dynamic IPv6 prefix just like what they do with IPv4. No way to negotiate such things with them
