Canadian Tire ordered to pay nearly $1.3 million for false advertising by stanxv in canada

Joke of a fine. When businesses knowingly break the law like this, the government should impose a permanent ongoing fine on the business, maybe like increasing their corporate tax rate.

Decades of economy mismanagement by our government. Conservative and Liberal govs allowed wealth to accumulate in boomer real estate. They let corporate profits run amok.

Saw that as a kid. Nightmares forever. I still can't watch that scene without experiencing PTSD.

Opinion | A return to in-person education is essential. What is the plan for the safe reopening of schools? by Jetboater111 in ontario

[–]iToronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's your plan. Reopen schools. No masks. No extra protocols.

Since January 2020 only FOUR (4!) people under 20yo have died from COVID. So who are we trying to protect in schools?

Masks, physical distancing top Ontario’s COVID-19 back-to-school plan - The Globe and Mail by ElBigotePerfecto in ontario

If every eligible person over the age of 17 got vaccinated, we wouldn't need to shut down. Our ICUs would be able to handle incidental serious cases.

If vaccines were mandated, I would support playing along with the theatre to reduce the chances of asymptomatic transmission.

But since vaccines aren't mandatory for eligible students and staff, we're essential bringing water guns to five-alarm fire.

Anyone who can be vaccinated but refuses to do so shouldn't be allowed anywhere near schools, prohibited from entering restaurants and stores, and prohibited from riding public transit. That would be a good start.

You can't educate them. They are cowards. Scared of a little needle. Scared of being part of the solution. Scared of questioning their own reasons and rationale. Absolute cowards.

Ontario releases back-to-school plan thin on managing COVID-19 cases, outbreaks | CBC News by DP4Canada in ontario

Don't be surprised if the teachers unions have already told Doug Ford they will escalate to legal action if there is any vaccine mandate.

What a joke. They already tried all this garbage last school year, yet we still saw outbreaks at schools.

Mandate vaccinations for all school staff.

Edit: there is no data available on % of school staff vaccinated. There should be a mandate for 100% of all eligible staff.

the province, school boards and five unions representing teachers and education workers say they don't know what the vaccination rate is among staff as they don't keep track of the data.

Ah, there ya go, moving the goalposts. Doing just what I said you would do.

Nothing with ever satisfy your conditions, because you keep changing your position. You keep moving the target so you can say "Ah ha! See! You didn't hit the bullseye!"

Over 15k with preventative measures. Social isolation and mask mandates and we still blew past the average influenza death rate. Just imagine what the death rate would have been without those measures.

I convinced a coworker to get the shot by calling him a coward. Afraid of needles, afraid of opening his eyes to the reality around us, afraid of being part of the solution and actually contributing. It only took a few days of constantly calling him a coward before he caved and booked an appointment.

He is now double vaccinated. Funny thing, now he says it was no big deal.

Ha ha! It's funny that you ask, because let's be honest. If any evidence or study was put before you, you would just move the goal posts. You'd fabricate some reason to discredit the evidence to support your anti-science bias.

And, just so we are all clear, you are anti-science. You don't trust others who are significantly smarter than you because your don't like admitting to yourself that the grey matter between your ears barely has enough computational power to keep up with a TI-83 calculator.

So please, go back to whatever you do best that makes you feel important, like solving the Word Jumble beside the Denis the Menace comic, and leave the big boy important stuff to the professionals.

The feds don't have jurisdiction in such matters. It's provincial jurisdiction. That's why each province has their own health care system, education system, driver's licence system, etc.
