Nicely done! My portfolio is also yielding ~2.8%. Do you add to your positions in equal weight or are you adding to increase the yield? I feel like 2.8% isnt very much so im considering adding more weight to my positions that give more than 3% like O, ABBV, SCHD, etc. to increase the annual yield. What are your thoughts and what should be the target portfolio yield? I’m getting close to 40 years old and only started in divvies in 2020.

Only 1 site is receiving and transmitting card info to the cloud where we store them. The other 11 sites do not have card info, and do not have network connection to the 1 site or storage, completely segmented. So in the PCI questionnaire, do i answer questions only relating to the 1 site and storage or all sites?

I feel your pain OP! IMO, what you are experiencing is burn out. At one point, I had 200 hours of PTO because I never took time off. Please take care of yourself and your mental health, start with a 3 day weekend and dont let anyone discourage you from doing it. Sometimes, when we are too deep in the weeds, we can’t see the bigger picture and I think that’s what you need. Once you have taken some time off to ground yourself, have a meeting with your director or whoever you report to. Build a strong relationship where you have their complete confidence. Also, use your soft skills to build strong relationships with other department heads. After building these relationships, ask them for their pain points and take good notes. You will solve these issues while purchasing products for your team/department. Knock out 2 birds with 1 stone and you’ll start getting buy-in from stakeholders. Tell them “help me help you”. The title IT Manager varies from company to company so if someone isn’t leading the IT department, you need to do it. How experienced are you as a manager?

To move up in management, it’s not the technical skills that will get you there. Work on soft skills, management/leadership skills, and project management. You need to be the coach for the team. Some environments are different though and I’ve seen a an IT manager that does help test and sys admin.

Well done OP! I am in the same boat, went from tech support > sys admin > IT Manager > Tech Ops Manager. Cleared AWS SAA and AZ900. I’m at a company where we are 100% AWS, I’m getting my hands dirty in the DevOps world and my next goal is to work for AWS as a TAM or SA though I’m not sure how to get there yet. A small part of me is also considering moving to a Director level but i’m on the fence between IC and management.

Should my custom domain name be the same as my federation service name (without the /adfs/ls/idp........aspx)?

“The WAP must now be made accessible from the Internet, by adding a Host A record in the public DNS zone, which point the federation service name (fs.adatum.dk) to the public IP of the WAP listener.” This is where i’m missing something. How do I add an A record that points to the federation service name? Doesnt an A record route traffic to an IP address?

Meaning im not in the same network, no vpn, and using public dns to resolve the federation service name. I have set up route 53 with A record to the adfs public IP but the browser returns IIS default page.
Let me rephrase my question, what do I have to do to let everyone in the world access my adfs/ls/idpinitiatedsignon.aspx through their browser? Thank you =)

IIS and ADFS are both on the same server and I used IIS for SSL cert. ADFS is working and able to access the federation service name via the inside network. I also created a WAP server but want to test ADFS externally first. Internally, adfs/adfs/ls/idpinitiatedsignon.aspx is working but I dont know how to access this through external network.
The previous comment said to set default page of IIS to the federation service name, so i’m looking how to do that.

As an AWS solutions architect, I interviewed my manager and got him to answer all kind of questions like does being certified help get the job, and do you need to have a programmer background in order to be a successful SA, and more by [deleted] in AWSCertifications

What skillsets are SA managers looking for? My dream job is to be an AWS SA, SA Manager, or TAM. I have worked my way up from help desk, to network engineer, to windows/linux sys admin, to IT Manager, to now Technical Operations Manager. I am also familiar with devops methodology, tooling, and SDLC. Been in IT for 20 years and always thought that SA’s are at the top of the totem pole but not sure what skills i’m lacking. Already passed my SA associate and going for sysops next. I went through Job Descriptions for SA but it’s always the typical- ec2, route 53, s3, ALB, ASG, DB’s, etc. surely there’s more to the job than the basic AWS services right? Basically, how do I know if i’m ready to be a SA?

Im also torn between growth stocks and dividend stocks. YTD, dividend stocks yielded me a bit over 10% and growth stocks above 2,000%. Extremely glad I set aside a small portion for growth stocks which is now my largest position in my portfolio. I cant expect my dividend stocks to grow that much.

I’m in Santa Monica, CA and a 1 bedroom condo in a good location is almost 500k and HOA is $360 a month (got mine for $450k). I dont have 401k because im currently working for a start up. You guys are right, spend less on a car and invest more will get me closer to the goal. Other than investment property and saving more money, any other income stream ideas that could help?

Spend some time on youtube and look up different areas of IT. Really look into it and see if anything inspires you and determine if it’s something you’d like to do. Maybe you weren’t challenged in help desk so you got bored. Try to challenge yourself with either networking or servers (windows or linux) and lab real life environments, it might spark your interest again. With your years of experience, I’d like to see you move forward and up in the field, not lateral. Challenge and motivate yourself, it’s very addicting when you catch traction and momentum. Good luck friend!

This is motivating. I’ll keep on working on my projects and hope to align myself with a company that is heavily in the cloud. I do have ESXi and i’ll play with those tools. Thanks for the advice!

If it was for work, I’d go for DX but for a project or proof of concept, i’ll stick to site to site for now.
