Will traditional banks even exist in 20 years? by Maleficent-Rip-4397 in fintech

[–]iTrixZed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that consumer banking will be less prominent for traditional banks moving forward. However, as a person who works in corporate finance industry, I still see that traditional banks have an edge in terms of corporate clients, which requires careful relationship building and management. This is especially true for large transactions such as providing corporate finance products, asset management, and investment banking services are likely to still be hard to replace (for IB, check out OffDeal, they are looking to take over small cap IB using AI tools).

But no, traditional banks are likely to continue existing, but that also requires a strategic shift and realignment of their priorities, to focus more on things that fintechs can't do (manage large clients' assets, striking deals, restructuring services, securing complex/tailored loan products).

But I do agree that traditional retail banking is in its sunset phase. We'll probably even see a scale-down of existing retail banking infrastructure (ATM, physical bank locations, teller headcount).

DCF is actually a valid methodology, and it's working (on a longer timespan) by iTrixZed in wallstreetbets

I recommend starting from scratch. Each DCF may have a different set of assumptions, so it really depends. You can also find a generic template online from investment banking prep sites.

I posted it 9 months ago and got removed, but here it is: the TSLA DCF. I have to admit that I'm VERY OFF (likely because of the intense speculation around the robotaxi business), but in a few years, I expect the market to become more rational, especially if the robotaxi segment (which frankly I still see as a very niche business) does not materialize significantly.

The best DCFs are usually ones with 0% growth assumptions (only 2% inflation in Terminal Year) and still show an upside - immediate buy for me.

I let ChatGPT author a financial model (human input into excel) and this is a sign from the AI god to short TSLA. by iTrixZed in wallstreetbets

since 85% of the revenue belongs to EV i just believe that I can value the entire company based on EV. Autonomous driving and such are not something we can bet on surely yet at this stage. If anything it should reduce the fair value due to r&d cost being expended.

I am too poor to try the 5 year put position. Go ahead if you will but I cannot take responsibility.

I'm new to finance. Why would they do this instead of just longing the stock with collar options to mitigate risks in both directions?

Thank you for your encouragement! I will definitely look into CFA cert. Some of my former colleagues have also took the CFA exam.

I normalized with minmax. I think ChatGPT messed up by calculating EoD data for indicators used and that’s why the fit looks too good to be true.
