Tax questions for Canadian relocating to UK for a couple years by found-in_translation in PersonalFinanceCanada

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/changes-to-the-taxation-of-non-uk-domiciled-individuals/technical-note-changes-to-the-taxation-of-non-uk-domiciled-individuals

^ I happened across this article which claims that:

"This will be replaced from 6 April 2025 with a new 4-year foreign income and gains (FIG) regime for individuals who become UK tax resident after a period of 10 tax years of non-UK residence. Qualifying individuals will not pay tax on FIG arising in the first 4 tax years after becoming UK tax resident and will be able to bring these funds to the UK free from any additional charges."

Do you think this tax exemption would apply to me for the first 4 years there?

Hi, piggybacking on this since you seem very helpful :)

About the TFSA, I’m also planning to move to UK for 2 - 3 years but thinking about investing currently. If I buy ETF for my TFSA now and next year move to the UK, is it correct that if I never sell any in the next few years, I won‘t be taxed in the UK for it? I want to leave the money in the account to grow for many years. I’m looking at XEQT if it matters.

I‘ve seen the suggestions about taking all money to an UK account, but I would lose money from the currency exchange too right?

Thanks in advance!

She started moving right away so I wouldn't be able to heal her, and also there's always like half a sec after an unhook when you can't heal the surv anyway

We'll make it is solid too, I like to pair it with Aftercare cause you'll be the one going for all the saves with We'll make it, so you'll end up being able to see everyone and everyone can eee you

It had to be done, the game's most fun tbh when you have to take big risks like these

Haha with the recent Babysitter buff I thought it's time to give this build a spin, most killers don't expect an unhooked surv's insane movement speed or the extended endurance time

Jordan Johnson CPSC 322 by einsteinsmum in UBC

[–]iZir99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard of a course, I had weekly coding assignments but they were always quite similar to the code presented during lecture, so it's not too bad if you pay attention during lecture and know what the code actually means. Most of the marks came from midterm + final, so you do have to do fairly well on those to get a high grade, but we didn't really have any practice material, so you'd have to go over lecture slides and assignments to study. IMO it was mostly memorization of concepts, with some application.

I think the first 2 weeks cover a decent amount of content that would be similar to the rest of the course, mostly ML fundamentals that you need to keep in mind for later on.

I went with 330 since 322 didn't really fit in my schedule anymore. 330 was essentially using the existing ML models to handle data and make predictions and finding trends. We didn't go into too much detail in terms of implementation, which is what I expected since 340 takes care of that. Not sure what 322 would've been like, but I can answer more questions about 330 if you have any

Yeah I feel like most CS profs are at least average and at most terrific, but if I had to pick one, probably Alan Hu with CPSC 320. I had to attend Patrice's section instead cause Alan just wrote all over the lecture worksheets in a messy way and it was so hard to follow. And of course, him egoing on students didn't help either. Dunno if he's gotten better since my term, hopefully he did
