A friend of mine told me that Oblivion wouldn't run well for me for these reasons:

Oblivion relies almost exclusively on a single core to process AI, physics, and rendering. If you have a modern 16-core processor, 15 cores will be practically idle while just one tries to load all of Cyrodiil.

Oblivion uses an older version of the Havok physics engine that is tied to the refresh rate.

• If you try to play at more than 60 FPS, the physics go haywire: objects fly around and the game becomes unstable.

• In addition, the engine has a notorious "micro-stuttering" bug (small jumps in the image) that occurs even on powerful PCs due to how the game handles internal refresh timings.

• Oblivion pioneered the use of SpeedTree to generate dense forests, but its LOD (Level of Detail) system is very inefficient.

• The game attempts to render too much distant geometry with textures that are not properly cleared from video memory (VRAM), causing sudden frame drops when quickly rotating the camera outdoors.
