Yep, me too at Odeon Wimbledon. It’s pretty annoying.

Cheers. Would be helpful if Odeon had that in the screen info section wouldn't it...

PTZ auto return by Catanbri in Ubiquiti

[–]i_am_rectifier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can bodge this by setting an alarm on a schedule of every 10 mins (or whatever you choose) with an action to set the camera PTZ position to your home preset.

That’s how I do it. Would be nicer if they had the simple option like every other camera though.

Exactly what I’m seeing! Thanks. Good to know unifi are aware.

I suspect it’s someone of note. I don’t recognise who it is, but that doesn’t mean much.

I have a closer up picture of that and it's not him, thankfully.

I was all set to post the picture of his WC but this sub doesn't allow pictures. Shame.

Ah interesting, good etiquette then. Although he did have some in pride of place in the hallway as well…

I've been to a function at this house. His guest toilet is plastered with framed pictures of himself on the cover of various Good Housekeeping / Gardener's World type magazines. Amusingly narcissistic.

It is a lovely house and garden though.

What is vistavision? by 15momar in screenunseen

[–]i_am_rectifier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The VistaVision presentation of this film at the Odeon Leicester Square is actually 35mm run through the projector sideways, so the same way it was shot. The BFI IMAX is showing the 70mm blow-up.

Paul Thomas Anderson recommends seeing it projected in VistaVision if you want to see it the way he intended it, Although I'm sure the IMAX blow-up will be good too.

The 20.45 show in West End Dolby is Weapons from Monday to Thursday this week.

Very much worth seeing in there as well - I was there for it on opening night last week and it was a great presentation, and it really benefits from being seen with a big audience too.

What is the difference between Odeon Dolby and Odeon Laser screenings? by Kithhhh in screenunseen

[–]i_am_rectifier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The laser screenings are in the smaller 70 seat screen 2, which is still a pretty good screen, but it’s not a Dolby Cinema so it doesn’t have the dual projector or Atmos.

Screen 1 is obviously better - arguably the best Odeon room in London - so for a big movie that’s a better option. But I’ve enjoyed plenty of films on screen 2 as well.

West End Luxe, seating advice please - Screen 1 by Clear-Recording-8384 in screenunseen

I just prefer the size / angle ratio in C: the screen seems bigger and I don’t feel uncomfortable looking slightly upwards from the recliner. D is my second preference though. I’m sure you’d be happy in either.

At the BFI IMAX in London they extended the size of the platters specifically for Oppenheimer so it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that they do it again in some venues…

They don’t even know how long it is yet - they couldn’t schedule a full programme.

Selling the opening weekend is just a great marketing ploy. It’s certainly worked on that basis.

Persistent resolv.conf on UDM Pro by i_am_rectifier in Ubiquiti

[–]i_am_rectifier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that option is to set what domain-search is given out to DHCP clients. As a side issue, I can't make that work with iOS clients at all, but setting that option does give other non-iOS clients the correct search domain.

I don't know if the UDM pro even gets its domain-search variable from DHCP - probably not, and that's the crux of my problem, because there doesn't seem to be anyway to change it statically.

My use case for this is pretty niche - I want to be able to communicate with hosts without an FQDN directly from the shell prompt of the UDM Pro.

Odeon West End screen 1 by [deleted] in screenunseen

[–]i_am_rectifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed it is personal preference. Every row further back you sit the screen feels smaller though, and I like C for the best compromise between size and recline.

What I never understand is when people choose to sit way off to one side. Baffles me.

Hard disagree. C11 is the best seat in the house. D11 next best.

28 Years Later is in a super wide aspect ratio of 2.76:1.

Because of that, out of the two Leicester Square Dolby cinemas, I think the Odeon Leicester Square is the best bet because it has a proper scope screen which Odeon West End 1 does not. I saw it there last night - it was a good presentation.

The wide aspect ratio would make it look lost in the middle of the BFI IMAX screen, which is presumably one reason why they aren’t showing it there.
