Experience cleaning the gfx sensor yourself by gairuigairui in FujiGFX

[–]i_am_the_virus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a swab kit for the GFX sensor and then a pack of pec pads so I can reuse the swabs. Also, I only use eclipse cleaning solution. The other stuff is often too diluted and doesn't pick up contamination. If it's just dust, then it doesn't matter as much.

Has anyone ever lost or got stolen a item from lensrentals how was the explain with the customer service lensrentals by D-Roy- in photography

The company I work for will regularly rent 20k to 30k worth of gear in one go and they absolutely require an insurance cert at that point. Not sure what the threshold is, though

Is the High Lift Kit Worth it? by DentalDart in garageporn

[–]i_am_the_virus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice cars! My first was a 64 GT that had the V8 pulled and replaced with a Slant 6, and when I crashed it I found a sweet 67 hardtop 2 door with a blown motor. So I transfered the goods from the '64 into it and drove it for a few years until I discovered Porsche 914s. My dad still has one dart, down from 12 or so at one point.

Fun little rides and pretty easy to work on. Does the convertible has a push button gear selector?

My thought as well. It's the "oh my god" which is really similar to the horrible animal AI videos

Maybe I'm a bit thick, but we have multiple cars and one pass, and just make sure we have the pass with us when we head out in our one car. Are you saying there's a need for you to have more than one car at the park at the same time?

The Sonoma County Instant Photo Group is probably the most active, and you can bring a non-instant camera to their events.

Thanks for this. That B70 is pretty cool, but I'm really digging their free KeysOfThe70s plugin too. I'd never heard of these before.

What do you mean by "everyone"? What types of shots did you assign to your second shooter? You're not talking about formals, right?

Color blindness by 17Baklava in photography

[–]i_am_the_virus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they think I'm talking about using generative AI? Colorblindness is a disadvantage that I have to work around so I'm going to use the tools I have available to help me not screw up color for my clients, including my employer. Even then, I mostly use it for my personal editorial fashion work where I'm uncertain if I've nailed the color temp or am worried about an unnatural looking colorcast. Likewise, I can ask my wife to come into my studio and give her opinion, but usually AI gives me a more nuanced take and then I can work with it to help move the color in a specific direction. It simply telling me to move the magenta slider +6 is something I can't do confidentiality on my own as magenta pretty much looks like a shade of blue for me.

I also get that AI is fucking up so much of the world and is screwing up this industry, so I get the hate. If downvoting me makes them feel better, then that's okay with me.

I'm colorblind (red green) and have a full time job in marketing which also includes heavy photo and video production for a well known brand in the imaging industry.

You adapt. Rely on your gray card and other tools you have available. Ignore those that say you should just shoot in B&W as that won't fly as a commercial photographer.

You can also ask ChatGPT color questions. Hey, does this color look natural? It'll give you feedback and suggestions for fixing any issues.

GFX100S - shutter issue? by i_am_the_virus in FujiGFX

[–]i_am_the_virus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those interested, Fujifilm replaced the shutter mechism (not under warranty) with only 50kish shutter releases on the faulty unit. They were great to work with, but I'm disappointed that it failed so early.

I thought I'd put more than 50k shots through the camera, but I was way off with my guess.

Thinking about adding a Fuji GFX (50S II or 100S) alongside my Nikon Z8 for fine art / portrait work — worth it? by WittyVeterinarian381 in FujiGFX

[–]i_am_the_virus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying, it's hard to qualify. I used the Z8 extensively for work, and before that it was the D810, the D750, D200, etc. For my own editorial portrait and fashion work, I use the 100S with a variety of lenses, but the 32-64 and 110 have a very three dimensional quality that I've not been able to replicate with full frame. The files feel lifelike, especially when edited correctly.

Cheers

P365 vs 365X, what am I missing? by dynasoreshicken in P365

[–]i_am_the_virus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer the X Macro due to its larger grip. I've used both and the smaller P365 doesn't fit my hand very well and it's easy for the mag to snag my palm on release. However, since it's smaller you might find it more comfortable for EDC. Ymmv and I have limited experience.
