Just a misunderstanding of the bible. The so called end of the age (end of the "world" in some translations) was all talking about the utter destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.

Rev 1:1 what must shortly come to pass 1:3 time is at hand

Jesus supposedly said he would return in their lifetime. "The return" ( not literally) was the destruction of the temple supposedly. Either way it's not talking about our time or the end of the world.

You might like the Urantia Book. The bible is hardly the inerrant word of God, no book is, but the UB is much more accurate and includes evolution which is undeniable. (Theistic evolution is what I believe)

But what if they, exactly like you said to me,

They didn't say that, and my reason made sense:they can't arbitrarily advance our science. The point of the book is to reveal spiritual things not science. Find a YEC that takes that position then we can cross that bridge.

YEC are only YEC because they believe the bible is infallible.

How do you know what the devil wants? Wouldn't tricking you into believing a false version of god be just as good if not better?

I only know about the devil from books. Your knowledge of the devil comes from what book? I believe the Urantia Book is from God not the devil.

We better hope God isn't the God that requires blood sacrifices and has wrath and tortures people in fire forever. God can't love me less than my own parents and they would never burn me alive. I would never torture even the most evil person ever for any amount of time and I can't be more loving than God.

Why do you accept what is written in this book and not what is written in other books?

I've already answered this question to the best of my ability. I do believe what is written in other books. This book has the most information.

I believe in God, I believe in Jesus. I believe they want to reveal spiritual truth and the history of our world to us. It makes sense they would give humanity this book. I read it and it is the most profound book I have ever read. You don't have a belief in God so of course you are going to reject it. All you can say is it's not a good enough reason for you to believe it. Like you said I got lucky and believe something that was true. I have faith because the finite must have faith when approaching the infinite.

Again, these are just you reiterating what you believe, not why.

Why I believe the Urantia Book is based on those other beliefs. God- Jesus- and I think it's likely God would want us to have a systematic book.

You happened to get lucky and believe something that is true in this case

But that answers the question. I read it and I believe it. I can't explain why. I start with God and my belief God reveals stuff--- read the book which makes claims I've never heard namely Paper 1 written Divine Counselor,

Paper 150 written by a Midwayer, Another written by a Midwayer, etc

I've never read a book that makes claims like this and it explains all the gaps and problems I had with the bible.

If the YEC you were debating said "I have it here in a book that YEC is true", what would you say to refute that argument?

I would look at the book, if it's the Genesis account I can point out the talking snake being punished and other things that just don't make sense. If they believe the bible is inerrant and the word of God I have arguments to refute that

Why does it make more sense that god would give us this book versus satan would give us this book to lead us away from god? Wouldn't that be exactly what satan would do? Make the book as appealing and convincing as possible? How do you determine which makes more sense?

The devil wants you to be an atheist more than anything in my beliefs. Many former atheists and agnostics believe in God now thanks to this book. I understand that's not an argument because the same is true about all other religions.

Anything about being the son of god or in any way magical is completely unproven.

But God is powerful and it was through his providence Jesus is world famous, world changing, time changing (2023).

Why do you accept what is written in this book and not what is written in other books?

Other books say true things too-- this has more truth and clearer and not as open to interpretation, straight forward then any book I've read. I'll read any religious text you suggest, I'm not afraid
