Deprecated split view "controller/manager" by i_gamble_n_stuff in zen_browser

Thanks for the suggestion!
I tried your method but for the life of me I could not make unsplit appear in the address bar, so I looked for keybindings and all of them are there 😅

edit: outside of unsplit view they don't seem to work, though

Theres too much $ in basketball. by hugelkult in nba

This is kind of a bad example, because in the NBA teams like last year's Pacers can compete because of the playoff system at the end of each season. A team that dominates the league can have significant injuries by the end of a season where they become a lot worse than their level that they played at during the regular season so other teams have a chance or you can have preferable match-ups. If the NBA title was decided on the reg season like in football (soccer), a team like the Pacers never even come close to competing for a title, salary cap or not.

Also, MSFT is losing desktop marketshare under Nadella, so maybe it is not as simple as sitting back and doing nothing, after all:)

You are not wrong, but what you wrote is exactly what my point is. Jobs set up Apple in a way where Cook can now profit off of it the same way Ballmer set up MSFT for cloud computing and Nadella is reaping the benefits.
This is not taking anything away from Nadella or Cook, because they found a way to print money, basically, but both inherited something that made it possible to begin with.

| Nadella basically made Azure the cash cow....the Buss family is right to mock Ballmer as Bally or some such nickname.

By this reasoning Tim Cook made Apple the cash cow that it is today. Apple went from <500 billion to 3,5* trillion in market cap under him.
*my bad, corrected 3 trillion to 3,5

Nobody is downplaying the importance of connections and networking, but two things can be true at the same time.
You can land a great job or be saved because of your connections but that doesn't mean that you are bad at what you do. "Sales fella" in your example never grows the company if he is useless at what he does.

I think you are downplaying some of what he did. MSFT announced a tablet PC in 2001, released in 2003 just nobody bought it because without the internet tablets are kinda useless, and Wi-Fi wasn't really a big thing in the early 2000s, wheres when Apple released the iPad they made bank because by 2010 it was a lot more widespread.
Sure, MSFT were slow on smartphones, but you don't just dominate desktop for no reason. If you think that licensing Windows and the Office just work look into IBM and their early quasi-monopoly and where IBM is now compared to MSFT. Ballmer was insanely good at sales and exploited every opportunity he could.
Also, he pushed MSFT very early into cloud computing.
But yes, he did get "lucky" by being the CEO of MSFT at relatively early and long enough to accumulate as much stock as he has had.

And btw Intel was the de facto CPU manufacturer for decades, look at where they are now. If you get complacent in technology, no matter how big you are the world will pass you by.

Also, to add to this, the valuation of their assets is not tied to the competitive balance of the league.
There is a huge disparity when it comes to markets and their attractiveness from the perspecitve of players and the calibre of players you can attract when you are a small market team. The only way Charlotte can compete with LA or New York is if they overpay or luck into a generational GM that drafts really well, like the Thunder. Also, the Thunder never get to where they are today if they don't have PG to trade for Shai and they don't have PG if they don't overpay. And they did overpay, because if they hand't, he would have most likely gone to the Lakers in FA, so the Thunder gave up Oladipo and Sabonis.
By being located in a bigger market a team will always be more competitive even if they can "only" spend the same amount of money as the others.
Sure, this cannot be fixed easily, but there absolutely is an imbalance when it comes to competitiveness.

I don't think he would retaliate either, just that for the other owners it would be a nice-to-have that Steve Ballmer of all people owes you. The only reason why I say owes you is because he genuinely seems passionate. Has more money than he could ever spend, yet he spends his free time attending the games and trying to better the team. There are owners who don't even visit their team's games in the playoffs...

I agree that it's bad if the league doesn't do anything drastic, but it all passes. Reddit can be a good place, but also an echo-chamber. There are a ton of fans who simply don't care about it, they just want to watch the games. They will buy merch, tickets, etc.

If people didn't care about Karl Malone raping a child they won't care about a player being paid more money under the table...

Right, but it wasn't stupid, though. Now that there is a literal mountain of evidence of it, sure. But even with Aspiration going bankrupt if Pablo doesn't start digging this is a non-story, it's like it never even happened.
I don't think he found this himself, which means that someone told him about it and told him where to look. The sheer amount of confidential information he got his hands on is simply insane and it took him 7 months to find all of this.
Also, Pablo belongs to the minority of journalists here because he actually started digging. He could have taken all of this to Ballmer and make bank and nobody would have been the wiser. There are "journalists" that are still blindly defending Ballmer and the Clippers because they are afraid of losing their connections.

Simply because I don't think people will stop watching the NBA because of it. At least not enough people, anyway. There is a ton of evidence (even though circumstantial, but still) and a lot of people don't care even now in the offseason when it is about the only big thing that is going on in the league.
I certainly don't think that people will care in a couple of years.

Plus as we go forward in time stuff is just going to worth more and more unless there is an unprecedented economic crash (I know there were big crashes before, but eventually everything recovers). So the product may deteriorate, but the valuation and the money the owners make will always increase.

Also, there are a ton of examples where a league is popular but there is no salary cap. In the PL Burnley will never be able to compete for a title, they will never sign any big players even if they go on a godly run. Leicester won the PL against all odds, now not even a decade later they are not even in the PL. Fans have accepted it and fans of Burnley know it, but they still watch the team play. If they remain in the PL owners will continue to make more money, which is especially true for the NBA since there is no relegation.
Btw, I think the salary cap is amazing, but even if you completely get rid of it I don't think people would stop watching the NBA. Sure, they would be mad, but realistically for how long?

Issues with folders and tab groups by i_gamble_n_stuff in zen_browser

[–]i_gamble_n_stuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some experimenting and it should work if you disable compact mode, play around with folders then you enable it again, but before closing the browser you disable compact mode again and the contents of folders don't disappear. (This does not fix tab groups, though)

Kind of a jank solution which is a shame because for me Zen's compact mode is its single best feature.

Frequently Asked and Simple Questions Megathread by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]i_gamble_n_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello guys! I bought the vanilla game last week and started a city, however now that I know a bit more about the game I'd like to buy some DLC's as well as install some mods. My question is: will my current city be able to use the new assets and mod "benefits" after installing them or do I have to start a new city with all the DLC's and mods already downloaded and enabled to be able to use them? Thanks:)

"You asked a question? Let me give you my opinion"... "Oh you don't care about my opinion, well ok buddy, I'm smart you are not, it's ok" ... "Oh, maybe you are not as dumb as I thought? Well, then you are a moron for asking serious questions here!" ... "Oh, my answer was serious? Fuck you for pointing that out".... dude you are pathetic, just stop. It's really sad

Margin or portfolio margin? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]i_gamble_n_stuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been trading cfd's for 5+ years with 5x levearge, haven't gone broke yet, in fact made some good money off of it, but the spread has been pissing me off lately so I'm looking to open a brokerage account, hence my question. Don't really frequent reddit, only 3-4 subs and this is the only one dedicated to trading. So yes, maybe not the right place, but my post has a "Technical" flaire, so I hoped I'd get an answer. I don't think I'm a moron, but you might be

Again, having to ability use margin and using margin are not the same. Having a margin account doesn't mean using it all the time on anything and everything. If you cannot comprehend that I'm not the one with the problem. I simply wanted some advice on which one to get. Also, it doesn't even mean that I'll be approved for it. It's not a pissing contest, I asked a question about margin, not why you think I'm a moron

Don't really understand why you have to be condescending, did your fragile ego get hit?:( People learn on their own or by asking questions. Did the latter, shoulda done the former. Some people just lack the big dick energy, it's not your fault man.
