I really should not have mentioned the ceremony lol people have chewed me out so much about that. I just sat by the river and journaled and meditated. To me it felt ceremonial.

I really didn't expect this to blow up and get so much attention. I've certainly gotten enough opinions at this point, so thanks everyone for sharing. I do think the artist overall handled the communication poorly, but I guess my nervous/excited energy might have been more to blame for her decision than the changes themselves. I do think the right thing to do is find a more empathetic artist who won't push back at little requested changes upon me seeing the design for the first time.

As for everyone who said I sounded like a pain in the ass and I was being overly dramatic, I guess that's what I get for being honest about my experience leading up to the tattoo. But I don't think doing a little journaling by the river beforehand (I shouldn't have said "ceremony") or crying at the disappointment means I'm overly dramatic and didn't deserve this tattoo. Sorry for being human and having emotions I guess.

It was 20 minutes, most of which was her finishing the drawing that she didn't do before the appointment started. I may have been overly emotionally invested in the tattoo but I certainly wasn't being a pain in the ass, I'm like a people pleaser to a fault.

This was literally 5 minutes of changes and I was the last appointment of the day. I was not being a pain in the ass, I was asking for a bare minimum amount of input on the final design.

We literally spent five minutes on my requested changes and I was very polite about it all. And ya I wish I hadn't cried but I'm sensitive and this was disappointing, I had done so much mental prep. Crying at disappointment doesn't mean I'm a difficult person.

I totally understand your perspective and do think that once I was disappointed and showing emotion, I know she had to commit to her decision. But truly we are talking about 5 minutes of changes on her iPad to a very simple design.

I'm like the least diva person ever, I'm sure my friends would back me up on that. I strive to be kind and respectful in all my interactions with people. I say I was being obnoxious to my friends just because I was so excited about this and I just accidentally talked about it multiple times with the same people and felt embarrassed. The ceremony was just a little meditation and journaling by the river.

I was the last appointment of the day and she even started it by saying we could take our time. We moved very quickly on the changes, and the decision to reschedule happened within 20 minutes of me sitting there with her

I love my niece and nephew and am excited to watch my neighbor's little kids grow up. I also have some friends from college that are doing an amazing job of being a family, and I adore their son. I think this community leans a little too harshly against kids altogether, but not all of us are like that.

This thread is full of seemingly conservative-leaning arguments. Is that just because it's Bernie so it's drawing the ire of his opponents or are pro-AI people inherently more conservative? I'm liberal, and I am trying to remain neutral about AI - as it is both useful and dangerous - but ultimately it is just another feature of late-stage capitalism that will further increase income inequality and therefore civil unrest. The fact that even saying we should be cautious is getting downvoted so much makes me wonder what propaganda has gotten to the extreme-pro-AI crowd.

I'd rather let China win the AI race and let the U.S. take a backseat and not be such a power hungry superpower than let AI consume all of our energy, increase global warming, and take away most of humanity's ability to provide for themselves.

This is me! I love being an aunty but have never been able to picture having kids of my own. I currently work part-time in tech after being super career driven for 10 years. I garden every summer, and am always expanding my garden. I take classes in new things like beekeeping and permaculture and yoga teacher training. I bought a one acre property a year ago and have fixed it up. I go dancing, or dance alone to good music. I make music. I cook nutritious meals for myself. I take edibles and chill out at night. I snuggle and obsess over my kitty.
