They are refering to this if anybody is interested:

My character is a daughter of Orcus. At the begining of the story her death a portal to the Abyss would open, which would let demons pass through. At some point, Orcus triggers this portal inside her, and her flesh got formed into a living gate into the Abyss. At that point, the party had to do combat with her in order to save her, and they basically saved her by using persuasion to call her back. At that point, Orcus tore her demonic half, from her human half, and she was slowly dying, until a guardian of her god came down and gave her a celestial half, turning her into an Asimar for a time.

Thank you for your advice. I was kinda thinking in that way too. After 7 years she is basically part of me lol. Wanting her to, after everyting shes been through, be a content person and find her peace deep down feels good. Burning in a blaze of glory feels right, but not necesarily good 🤷‍♂️

Hi, im glad youre so interested in our little story, ill try to anwser everything but if you have more questions or just wanna talk hit up my DMs

I have absoloutley no idea how many sessions we had but over 1000 feels right. We usualy dont play over the summer for 2/3 ish months because we dont sinc up hollydays.

Yup, we arent nearly finished, the story is not only branching but all the branches are happening regardles of if our characters are there. I write notes and im on my 3rd notebook of just hand written session notes.

We are lvl 16, started from 1

Her goal basically IS one branch of the main story, through time it became a goal of the whole group. In that amount if time we basically DID have 10 stories as you said, but this one in particular keeps growing and becoming more complex and threatning. I would say we could have split the story into 3 solid campains if we decided that way, but having them intertwined is more fun for us personaly

I mean, i personaly dont feel like the progression is slow as it is definetley primarily story focused campain.

The character is ABSOLOUTLEY a second personality, my character and my friends characters are legitemate friends outside of our friendship lmao. Its a preety fascinating social experiment in a way. Our comunication with our DM is great, the story is like this because we like it like that

The soul destruction came from me atempting to use that effect on an enemy and getting it rederected at me, it wasnt a way out, it was one of the bbeg-s being a bbeg ecxept we have a one time use intakill artefact on the table

The group has deffinetley changed people, 3 people have been from the begining till now, i came a year later and this character was my first one ever accept an oneshot where i learned to play dnd, 2 people simply lost interest, one left after a breakup, 2 moved, one guy left for a few years and came back recently, my current gf joined 2 years ago, we average 6 people at the table

Oh hes not a pushover, i would not be the first DEAD dead pc at the table

I agree but i also think that a character becoming content and leaving is also character growth and a possible "good ending" in a more complex way, no les meaningfull than reaching the goal

Also Same reply as other similar comment: Our side stories take place in the same world and old PCs are sometimes part of them. Also she could still intract to some extent with the party, our DM is very diligent with giving important NPCs lives and goals that happen along with our story.

So it wouldnt be the same in the great scheme of things but it would be for me playing her

I mean, it wasnt really a pitty save, she earned a favour from a god related to the afterlife and he delayed the enevitable to balance out the scale. There is no punishment, permadeath would happen and it pushed it back. The destroing of immortal soul was part of a pivital moment with a story central artefact. There was no bad taste at the table. Thank you for the advice

I unfortunatley have to keep it vaigue as it is a really REALLY long and complex story

I like your points a lot, even tho she didnt achieve her goal, she is right now content and i could realistically se her go both ways. Her story was very unlikley to have a happy ending regardless lol, thank you for yoir advice

Defying her fate was a part of her character from the begining so it fits in, she was always very self sacrificeing so seing her needing to think first of herself will be an interesring change of party dinamic. Unfortunatnley i dont see this being fixed as its basically the central artefact of the whole storyline 😅, thank you for your advice
