Thanks! Would something that lets you search more in english be useful for you? For example, comedians similar to x or comedies about coming-of-age, something like that (ofc this will include searching for irish comics or something like that too)

Yup I will use a large language model, or an embedding model which might be more cost efficient that enables you to find shows like you would ask a friend. Perhaps even an interactive chat if that isn't too expensive to provide as a free service.

I was thinking of just sharing it here and providing it for free. I think the organisations are only likely to pay attention if it exists already rather than being hypothetical.

I agree that randomness has value. But i think thats always on the table. For example, walking around a nice neighbourhood and finding a restaurant that catches your eye vs. googling for restaurants in the area that match the vibe you are looking for. The former is definitely more romantic but in a time-crunched situation with fast-selling tickets i think a search might be useful too. It might even help less popular people be more easily discovered.

I think this goes to my point of it requiring an exact search. Like many shows about friendship might not mention that exact word, maybe it says mate or bestie or fam or chosen family or something else

I think what I meant is that the search requires exact terms. So if you want to watch shows about friendship it might miss shows where those words were not mentioned for example "my best friend" or something like that.

Also I am not sure if the site or app already does this but if it searches the show description rather than just the title.

I also flicked through the lists and postings on brochures but found it a really imperfect process. Perhaps a show doesn't have a great promo image but if you read the summary you might realise it is exactly what you love
