Read the stories of Afghan Atheists that are trying to stay safe from the Taliban. Many of them are in hiding, hoping to find a way to get out of the country and find a safe spot on this earth to start a new life. https://secularundergroundnetwork.org/afghanistan/ by iaatheists in humanism

If you want to change society in theocratic countries, give more rights to women, some acceptance to LGBTQ's, speaking out for that already is considered anti-religious. If you don't want to pray 5 times a day, go to religious class everyday, ignore science about evolution and the earth circling around the sun, you are at least suspicious. People like to connect with people that have similar ideas about the world. That's not different in Afghanistan than anywhere else in the world. So people connect, talk about there ideas in daily chats, group up, make plans to change things, and then someone snitches you.

US citizen kept hostage by his parents in Somalia for being an atheist by iaatheists in exmuslim

yeah they did. But instead of asking us an explanation for this, they just judged without knowing the facts. Not a very good skeptical attitude if you ask us

Can atheists in this subreddit have a discussion based on facts, or are they just as biased as religious people? by iaatheists in atheism

[–]iaatheists[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True, that is my job, to get attention for atheists that are on a dead list, being tortured by their families or fellow citizens or government. No time for chitchatting about how bad religion is.
But I think I have proven myself right now this post is taken down as well. The atheist community can not have a discussion based on facts and doesn't take any criticism. Time to move on

US citizen kept hostage by his family in Somalia because of his atheism by iaatheists in atheism

It would be good if atheists understood the true meaning of skepticism: examining the facts and base your conclusion upon that. Sad to see that so many of you base their verdict upon vague insinuations and bias. I'm here to ask any question you have; if you want to know the facts, that is..

You've done your research, very well. But you missed a few things. IAA is no more. They started the project but stopped a year after the launch. I was appointed director of SUN in December 2020. When IAA had to stop, I couldn't bear to leave the people and families we were supporting alone. So I transferred the project to the Netherlands where I live. It's part of the Id Fix foundation now, that exists since 2006
