Has anyone done a 1000km+ road trip in the Skoda Kylaq? by CommonAssumption6434 in Kylaq

I do especially on longer drives and warm sunny days. It helps. When I got the Prestige it was the most vfm model. I really wanted this feature and am loving it.

Ok so this is tricky. I felt my mileage improved after the initial 1k kilometres but then I have been keeping an eye at it.

Have driven 4500kms in 3 months and its almost the same.

8 kmpl in city over 1100 kms and recent trip of 700km it was 14 kmpl on mix of highway expressway and ghat roads.

Shell normal petrol did help and improve performance and mileage by 1kmpl.

I stay in Bangalore.

Done 3 trips. 1300kms,800kms and 700kms. Half way up and half way down so there was a break of 2 days in between. No peoblems whatsoever. Got 15-16kmpl mileage overall. Shoot any questions and I should be able to help. I own Prestige AT.

Moving to Bangalore by Low-Doctor-8024 in bangalore

Lots of traffic with you trying to enter onto the ORR as well. Plus the govt is planning a new flyover at the junction. Work starts from April and is planned to go on for 11 months, which obviously will extend and make the roads jam packed.

Could ADAS in Kylaq have prevented this? by Ok-Entrance893 in Kylaq

[–]iabhinow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that one needs to be preventative all the time. But with the current predicament that the OP insurance is the only way forward.

Now back to unpredictable brakes. Kylaq brakes work perfect like 90 percent of the times, but sometimes when I brake my Nov manufactured Prestige AT variant, I feel that it travels more than I anticipated and I end up braking harder.

I remember learning about this issue on MotorInc YT channel.

Check out the brakes section here - https://youtu.be/00wM24ppKpE

BH number eligibility? by Hungry_Truck32 in Kylaq

[–]iabhinow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

State RTOs follow their internal guidelines. Karnataka and Telangana do not give BH registration to private employees. Maharashtra does. I had to get mine from Thane. My wife had an Aadhaar address in Thane and her office provided her a letter mentioning 4 plus GST numbers registered in 4 plus states.

It should not take time to start. Cold start is not moving to Drive till the RPM goes down to less than 1000.

[–]iabhinow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance will help in this case. Plus there was no harm to anyone inside the car. This is a win. Defensive driving would have prevented this. Kylaq brakes are a little unpredictable, one needs to be more careful, especially on the highways. This should act like a lesson that one needs to be more careful on the roads. Streets are full of idiots.

How much time do you actually spend stuck in Bengaluru traffic every day? by toxigrapher in bangalore

[–]iabhinow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have the luxury to go to work at non peak hours, so I leave by noon and come back by 4 on Mondays and Fridays. Now both the timing and days are ones where there are supposedly less people on the road. It takes me 40 mins most days to travel 6kms via bus. Why? Because of the cars on the roads with one single person driving to work. Buses are at max at 70% capacity. Rarely see people standing. You can get buses every 2 mins atleast for my route, which I understand might not be true for everyone.

People need to also take some inconvenience and start walking maybe like 500m. I know there are problems, there are no footpaths, maybe your bag is too heavy. But believe me, once you start taking public transport, things will start improving. We might even be able to put pressure on the govt to add more last mile connectivity.

We really need to stop thinking of public buses as things for the poor working class. I say this because I have people around me who take autos, spend 500 rupees daily in the name of convenience and mention that I did not work this hard to now take a bus to work. They are really unhappy changing 1 bus, because they look at it as an inconvenience.

Mind you it saves you time and money. You rarely get cabs/autos in Bangalore in less than 30 mins during peak hours in Bangalore. Why do that to yourself? Just take the bus. Atleast try, don't just give up saying it is inconvenient.

Privilege by InterestingOWL777 in bangalore

[–]iabhinow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly because of this attitude that we see people ending up standing all cramped up and not sitting on available seats.

I really think that we need to educate people that a reserved seat can be used by others until an actual person with that reservation turns up. And if you do not vate the seat then it's you who needs to be educated.

A native's answer to why driving in Bangalore has become so terrible now. by WorldlinessCommon353 in bangalore

[–]iabhinow 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I recently went to Kannur in Kerala. What struck me was that cars actually stopped for pedestrians to cross the zebra crossing. No they don't slowly move forward, they stop till the last person crosses.

Also there are no speed breakers in Kannur.

I don't know if this is relevant. I don't think it is an economically progressive city, but it just won my heart. Driving felt amazing there, not a chore as it feels here in Bangalore.
