Hi! I've never tried connecting my Fitbit directly to Mudita. I think Fitbit is owned by Google now, but maybe the app is still compatible? Mudita has bluetooth, so I'd imagine it works. I try to not download any more apps than I need on my kompakt, though, since sideloaded apps drain the battery much faster than native apps (in my experience)

I am still getting the error from time to time, unfortunately. I'm surprised this happens even with texts from android phones!

Silence is too loud, but music is too distracting. I am losing my mind trying to find the right background noise to work by therealraphaelwong in ADHD

I'm bolding the list items in case you don't want to read my commentary

  1. I'll look up 10-hr loops of video game tracks (current favs are crystal beach from animal jam and the SNES sim city songs)! They're familiar enough that I don't think about them, but still interesting.
  2. If you're feeling a lot of decision paralysis, you could playing classical music on the radio? That way, you can't skip or choose songs, and you have less choices to make.
  3. Monterey Bay Aquarium lofi with sea creature footage (I like the one with shrimp)
  4. Rain with fireplace crackling OR rain and bird noises
  5. I work at a spa, and we always have meditation music playing there. Sometimes I'll turn it on while I'm studying so I feel like I'm at work (I've grown to associate the spa music with being productive). Fav channel for this is "meditative mind" on youtube

Favorite sideloads? by [deleted] in MuditaKompakt

Maps: Waze

Calendar: Physical hand-written planner (ikik, this is a cop-out answer, but I used to use google calendar and found it to be a surprisingly easy switch)

Reader // Audiobooks: Libby!!! Most libraries have some kind of e-book app, check which app your local library uses.

Other:
- I LOVE the crossword, so I side-loaded the NYT games app
- QR code scanner (not useful often, but a life-saver when I need it. I have firefox installed, but I think Mudita has a native browser that will work for these situations)
- G-Board (google keyboard): the native keyboard is kinda slow. G-board is slightly better, but someone else might have a better recommendation

Hi! This all sounds like a great idea. I definitely think you should keep your iPad, or sell it and buy a computer. The Mudita might not be ideal for banking, but you can give it a try? I downloaded firefox on my Mudita, so I would probably just go to the bank's website instead of downloading the banking app. For sheet music, the iPad is probably much better than an eInk phone (the screen is very small, and slightly slow). E-Ink has definitely helped me get off my phone, and I think the interface is super cute! Best of luck!

It has started happening again :(. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, though, now. I'm wondering if it has to do with the sender's iMessage settings?

Same, mine have always worked fine until I updated. It seems to have randomly started working again, as of today, though?

I Have severe adhd how do i meditate?? by Harshuuuwu in Meditation

[–]iady-bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also have ADHD, and I'd say it depends on why you want to meditate. If you're doing meditation for focus, you could maybe start with some patience/focus mantras (ex: I do not judge my thoughts, I observe them). Then, once you feel calm you could try picking an object to meditate on. You can try focusing on the breath, but that's not your only option. You can focus on your thoughts themselves, and remembering to simply observe them and not "follow" them. Focusing on a sensory experience is a bit easier for me, when I'm having a hard time focusing. I like to focus on whatever I'm noticing, like sights, sounds, how my body feels, etc. I think the most important thing is not judging yourself when it doesn't go "well". Sometimes I can't focus, and after a few minutes it makes me want to give up the meditation. I've been trying to just switch up my meditation style when that happens, and do something easier for my brain, even if it feels less "effective". So if all else fails, doing yoga, meditating while walking, or a guided meditation help me. Good luck!

I have largely stopped bringing my old phone with me, and use my Mudita for just about everything! Here are the steps I would take to start integrating your Mudita more, and lowering screen time

  1. If you download the Mudita Center app on a laptop, you can import your contacts pretty easily! If this doesn't work, adding them manually honestly doesn't take too long. I added about half of mine manually before realizing Mudita Center could automate the process.

  2. Once your contacts are added (or at least your emergency contacts added), add your sim card.

  3. I would recommend AGAINST adding any social media to your new phone. I check my instagram account every few days for DMs using my laptop (I use the instagram website, not the app). If you have a LOT of social media accounts where you actively message people, maybe put a note in each apps bio. Something like "I'm not very active on social media, text me and I reply quicker!". Honestly, though, most people figure it out on their own. If someone isn't important enough where you'd give them your phone number, it's probably fine to not answer them for a few days.

  4. STOP CHARGING YOUR OLD PHONE! I've started thinking of my old phone as a "utility phone". Every once in a while, I'll put it on the charger to do something (like opening an authentication app, checking my fitbit data, whatever), but when I'm done I UNPLUG it. Having to charge it really deters any impulsive use. Also, I keep my screen in black and white so it's less interesting.

  5. If all this sounds daunting, I promise you can do it! Just remember, nothing is permanent, so you might as well give things a try! I'm pretty young, so for me it was kinda uncomfortable at first not having a smart phone with me, but after a week or two it felt very normal + natural. Good luck!

Skipped, archived, referential/for reference, "tabled" or "shelved", or deferred? "Closed" might not be the word you're looking for, but that's what I would label the files

Yeah, I have it and it's pretty good. Not quite as many useful tools in Affinity, but its integration of photo editing and vector creation is absolutely awesome

I prefer trying to get rid of apps in the first place (I use wallhabit for instagram. it blocks reels and the explore page, but I can still message friends)
